I thought I was exceptionally humorous too.    I'm not going to be funny if you're going to cut them out.

Title: Censorship should have a point!
Post by oceans_blue on Apr 25th, 2007 at 11:26pm
There is a lot of talk in here about freedom of speech etc.

If Freediver we have the capacity to post pictures- why then are we not provided with a set of guidelines to know when we are breaching guidelines--

gratuitous violence-pornography etc.

It seems you have rules for men and women on this forum. Men can do what they like-women are to be kept in their box?

It could be a wish, or it could be a nightmare...from my POV I'm the only one who can decide. Post pics or STFU  :P

Title: deleting threads
Post by freediver on May 31st, 2007 at 11:39am
This morning I had to delete some threads and posts for the first time that wasn't just removing spam. They are in a 'recycle bin' board that isn't viewable to the public. What should I do when this happens? I can:

  • Lock the thread
  • Move the thread to a visible board that people can't post in
  • Remove the thread from public view

What would you prefer? The second option has the advantage that people can still see the sort of thing that is considered inappropriate. You can also judge for yourself whether I am being consistent with the standards.

Title: Re: deleting threads
Post by oceans_blue on May 31st, 2007 at 12:04pm
remove the thread from public veiw..

These flaming threads are usually victimising one person..and are based on personal differences of opinion..so are personal in nature and quite hurtful.

I sincerely aplogise for the rubbish posted on the forum last night..even though Im pretty sure in most cases I dont start them..Im usually heckled..but no excuse for letting them do my head in..!

No get rid of the threads..not worth keeping around..just rubbish.

yes, just delete them.

I think they should be kept and viewed for posterity's sake.

I have nothing to hide  ;)

Title: Re: deleting threads
Post by oceans_blue on Jun 1st, 2007 at 11:37pm
IQRSLOW is at it again  , seeing as though this thread is about the flaming of the other night..it has now registered under my name..with a aslight diffrenece that the dash is in between and not an underscore..

I guess this is to ensure that the flaming of the this forum just keeps going and going..not from me, Im disengaged as I said, but its not right that it be allowed to pretend its me around here ..not fair to me or anyone who may think theyre talking to me either.

Title: Depends
Post by sprintcyclist on Apr 16th, 2007 at 1:24pm
I voted depends.

If they are in an area set aside for that topic, is ok.
Noone has to go there and continually look if they are not interested in it.

If it spills over everywhere, unfair on those that want just political stuff.

Sort of like the "chat" area.

Title: Another suggestion
Post by sprintcyclist on Apr 16th, 2007 at 2:36pm
Had another suggestion.

Sorry, it means more work for you freediver.

Perhaps rejig some rooms. Some topics (evolution vs creation and the like)  sort of do not have a forum for themselves.  The politicians suck forum is at odds with the general political forum.

What if the politicians suck forum is renamed to "Philosophy", put all philosophical topics there.
All the politicians suck topics go into the general political forum

Title: Re: Censorship of religious views
Post by skeptic on Apr 18th, 2007 at 9:37am
why r we suggesting to censor religious views? what happened to freedom of speech?

as long as a person's posts are relevant to the topic then it should be allowed, i.e. don't bring religion into a political discussion if the topic doesn't involve religion.

Title: Re: Censorship of religious views
Post by oceans_blue on Apr 18th, 2007 at 11:00pm
yes, Skeptik,

this is probably right id say. If its in context and not overbearing its not a problem.
iT seems to be that some of us became a bit worried that the political element of the site would be overtaken by
Religion. We lost a couple of good posters to this new element and a few have also threatened to go.

Its settled own now and kind of getting back to normal. I hope Aus nat returns. He is a good poster. :(

Title: Object to latest deletion
Post by sprintcyclist on Oct 29th, 2007 at 1:40pm
I object to oceans deleting my latest posting on her relationship forum.
It disagreed with her views, but did not abuse anyone and was not rude.

This has happened before.
Poor form by a moderator to delete on grounds of disagreeing
