Title: Choices Post by oceansblue on Jun 10th, 2007 at 12:36pm
Why do we choose the partners that we do when we are first deciding/calcualting wether to pursue soemone?
For me..its about looks and the 'bad boy' syndrome, a recipe for disaster...mmm yes I know. And funnily enough Im not shallow. But I am slowly changing . A person whom I loved deeply is one of these bad boy types..incredibly good looking in a manly way/works hard/plays hard kind of way( black hair green eyes)..Is mostly faithful (I think).. He is used to the attention of women and quite enjoys it..gggrrr. Are men attracted to "femme fatales", I guess the female version of the man I described above or is it something else entirely? Is it about youth and beauty, perky boobs, brain function not being important or running a close 4th to last..or is it more about inteligence emotional and otherwise? Or is it the whole package , the perhaps, unnattainable on all levels. Maybe it depends on if we are choosing a life partner or someone for now..a bit of fun. |

For me it is the compatibility and that they are their own person, won't use me and is positive.
Prob depends on my own confidance whom I look at. |

In a way our choices are selfish. I would not be interested in a total loser. Who would ?
It is what they have to give. Us Irish are renown for our luck. "Better to be born lucky than rich." |

Who says we choose/assess/pursue? Maybe we just meet, engage, fall in love and marry.

I think that is how it has been for me - I guess maybe you can recognise patterns that have occurred though.
For me the man has to have some creative activity in his life, be intelligent, be loving, and not be afraid of thinking outside the box. Some interest in politics, astrology, psychology or some such field is also good. I don't know why, that is just how it is. Also an ability with maths and a fondness for music. I think that those things are that way though because i am the way i am. For someone else they would very likely be different things. One of the most offputting characteristics of a man though is being judgemental and being fake or on himself , don't you agree? |

I'ld pretty much agree connie. For me they HAVE to be a music lover.
Met many women who were overly "calculating." |
