Title: Rememberance Day Post by jerrys_chillihole on Nov 11th, 2007 at 10:10pm
Found this little verse in Google- hope you like it.
On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleven month we shall remember the fallen and the sacrifices they have made. It is the Soldier, not the Reporter , who gave us freedom of press. It is the Soldier, not the Poet, who gave us freedom of speech. It is the Soldier, not the University campus organizer, who gave us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the Soldier, not the Lawyer, who gave us the right to fair trial. It is the Soldier, whose coffin is draped by their countries flag, who allows the protester to burn their countries flag. http://redstateson.blogspot.com/2006/01/freedom-granted-freedom-won.html |

a bit unexpected youd get it soo wrong. As I read it oceans said she was not Jerry so you seem to be confused. Oceans appears not be to be a member here anymore, but then the concerted campaign by the 2 of you drove her away. So big back slaps to you both. Can you tell me what Jerry has done to offend you Sprintcylist ? Just ONE way would do and could you post the example here?W Why is it unexpected that Jerry would post here? Because you and IQ run this place now? Thats the death of this place then I guess. Isnt it enough you both seem to have cleared out the forum?, but then nothing like talking between yourselves is there. At least you understand each other huh? even if noone else does-ha ha now thats funny.- you should be both so proud. You avoid answering questions I notice so could you oblige this time? There are 3 questions in total to answer Sprint. |

That poem always makes me feel uneasy, crediting the military with all our freedoms. These are freedoms we are born with and it is always a military that takes them away. The more militaristic a society, the fewer freedoms the people end up with. So we need a military to restore them. That hardly makes killing the source of all freedom. It's just something you have to stoop to occasionally.

Actually thats a very good point and who could argue with it. But it is respectful to acknowledge our soldiers once a year for the great sacrifice they made for our country. |

Fd - that poemin no way glorifies way.
If others did not want to invade europe, stage World wars, refuse UN officers for a decade, organise nukes, fund terrorists, our young men (and women lately) would not be in the battle field fighting for our freedoms. We are born with only the freedoms others have died to give us. "Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders Fields." From "On Flanders Fields" |
