Alarmed UK citizens convinced they saw an armada of UFOs in the sky have flooded radio stations with their calls of distress.

Hundreds of people witnessed strange orange orbs hover over Liverpool, north England, on Monday, British tabloid The Sun reports.

The sightings prompted widespread speculation about the possiblity of an alien invasion.

Former policeman Steve Rafferty, 50, and his daughter Emma, convinced they were having a close encounter, filmed the unexplained phenomena on a mobile phone.

Another witness suggested the "alien craft" appeared to be scouting for a place to land, the newspaper reported.

The sightings came as three soldiers reported seeing UFOs spinning over an army base in Shropshire, in the west of the country.

The 13 flying objects were captured on film and are now reportedly being investigated by army officials.

AND, they are also among US

"FAMILIES in a small Northern Territory outback community claim they have seen three spaceships hovering just metres above their houses.

The claim comes as British ministry of defence chiefs this week face calls to launch an official inquiry into a series of UFO sightings, including one filmed by a soldier on night patrol, across Britain.

In the Australian incident, a number of people at Marlinja, population 112 and 730km south of Darwin, have described how they saw flashing red lights and a huge boom shatter the still of the outback night last Sunday.

Resident Janie Dixon said: "The sound was horrible.

"We thought it was a jet. I saw what I thought at first was the evening star, the first star you usually see at night.

"But then we saw three red lights in the distance, and the sound kept getting louder.

"The ground felt like it was shaking, so we ran inside and shut the doors."

Ms Dixon said the UFO hovered above the homes for what seemed like a couple of hours.

She said at one stage the phone rang, but went dead when she tried to answer it.

"Then the light in the house became so bright, it was like we were sitting in a football stadium," she said.

In Britain, UFO experts believe a number of sightings in south Wales earlier this month are 'particularly significant' because they included observations made by the crew of a police helicopter and military personnel.  See the reports here

The defence ministry has confirmed it has been handed footage captured on a mobile phone by a corporal on guard duty at Tern Hill barracks, near Shropshire, on 7 June.

Corporal Mark Proctor told The Sun newspaper that he witnessed a 'fleet' of objects zig-zagging across the sky at about 11pm. See The Sun's UFO sightings special report

The 38-year-old soldier, a member of the 1st Battalion Irish Regiment, said: 'I was on duty in the guard room when the other boys outside began shouting.

'I went out to see what the commotion was about and could see 13 craft in the skies. They were like rotating cubes with multiple colours.'

Former UFO expert at the British ministry of defence Nick Pope said that an inquiry to establish what had been seen by the witnesses was vital.

Mr Pope said: 'Something quite extraordinary does seem to be going on in British air space at the moment.

'There has got to be an official inquiry into all this and we need a senior air force officer to take personal charge and oversee the inquiry.'

Radar tapes, as well as footage of the incidents, should be examined as part of the investigation, said Mr Pope, who added: 'It's indisputable that something was seen - the very fact that it was seen by military personnel over a military base makes it a national security incident.'

I do, just to make sure you haven't stumbled across something you're not supposed to know  ;)

I know some things I'm not supposed to know. Actually only three things. I wrote about one of them once on the internet and the website had all of its' information go missing, unrecoverable, and I got an email off someone like a year later who claimed to know what I was talking about and to shutup about it. It was information delivered by multiple first hand accounts.

I'm not as silly anymore.  :-X

Let's talk about this UFO stuff.

Do you think it could be ET's or more likely the .gov testing out new equipment?

Air force technology converges on Darwin

Exercise Talisman Sabre war games

Air force pilots from around the world have arrived in Darwin with the International Air Defence training exercise "Pitch Black" officially starting today.

Ten nations are taking part in the month-long exercise, which takes place every two years.

Australian Air-Vice Marshal Mark Binskin says Darwin residents will get to see some of the most high-tech aircraft in the world.

"They'll see a great variety of aircraft, F18 Hornets from Australia and Malaysia and the United States, F16s from Thailand and Singapore," he said.

"They'll see E3 AWAC aircraft with a big dome on top from NATO and from France, and a lot of tanker aircraft.

"If you're a plane spotter it doesn't get any better than this to come and have a look."

The Commander of the United States Navy, Russel McCormack, says it is a fantastic opportunity to test the wares of pilots under extreme pressure.

"It's always competitive, that's just the nature of anybody who flies aeroplanes," he said.

"That's what's expected. But everyone's very professional and we learn a lot from each other and that's the benefit of these whole exercises."

So it could be classified military equipment, or maybe aliens coming down to see what we are up to!

Maybe it's a sign from God. Isn't that as likely as Alien invasions?

I saw something in the sky many years ago I could not identify.

It shone silvery, was a long way away and was very stationary.
I have no idea what it was. heard nothing about it in the media, I was young then, so did not read the news much.

I thought I saw the min min lights once. It was a red light off in the distance that was moving through the trees. I stopped the car to get some photos. Later on I realised it was one of those red navigational lights. I had been driving for way too long, which is what caused the illusion that it was moving. One other time when I was driving round the US I went for a walk and returned along the side of the road. The surface of the road appeared to move in odd ways like a snake skin. Another sympton of too much time behind the wheel. I don't know how truckies cope.

Not really, it is much more likely that there are "aliens" somwhere out there than it is to have some fictional "god".
Havn't the US got a spacecraft on mars at the moment?
maybe the martians are returning the favour.

Well according to this bloke about 95%.

Professor Paul Davies and Dr Charles Lineweaver outline their hypothesis in the latest issue of the journal Astrobiology. They say the aliens in question are likely to be primitive microbes that sprang up some four billion years ago. At this time the Earth was being buffeted by a hail of meteors and giant asteroids during what's known as the Archaean bombardment. Alternately, microbial life forms may have arrived on Earth from space and unobtrusively co-existed with us. Davies, of the Australian Centre for Astrobiology at Sydney's Macquarie University, admits the theory is speculative but says some of these microbes may have survived undetected to this day. Multiple life events He says statistics indicate there's a 95% chance of life on other Earth-like planets, a figure that he extrapolates to Earth itself. "I think it's a possibility [there are aliens among us]," he says. "The basic idea is that if life is easy to form as many astrobiologists suppose, then surely it should be formed more than once on Earth. "From what we know about the early record of life on Earth it happened pretty fast once conditions became suitable. "It's fairly easy to then work out the probability that if life began here on Earth, which is the most Earth-like planet there is, there's about a 95% chance that it would have done it more than once, maybe twice, three times. Who knows?"

Whilst the chace of god is about 67%

"A scientist has calculated that there is a 67% chance that God exists."

Why not, dont you? there as good an estimate as any one could come up with it just depends which way you swing.
I would think that people who believe in god are probably less likely to believe in aliens and visa versa.

Really?,

so do you reckon god created life on many planets? I suppose he could have, it only took him seven days on earth, didn't it?

Atheist, both estimates would involve so many layers of assumptions that it would make them meaningless. They do not reflect the true liklihood at all. They merely reflect the assumptions made.

I don't trust the Bible really anymore, it's a good book, but I'm not entirely sure it is divine.

I've had 5 people ask me if I was Jesus, and 1 say I was an angel. Only 2 of them were nutters.

Clearly it is not hard for people to assume you are heavenly or what have you, and back in those days, when it was extra superstitious, I'm sure it was much easier to get away with divine status.

Oh yes, I am not Jesus nor am I an angel.

I don't know what God did. Putting me here is hard enough to figure out anyway. I give myself headaches laying in bed at night thinking for hours about things like trying to imagine nothingness, why I am a human with feelings and emotions and what have you.

But yes, I believe in God and aliens. I hope aliens come and turn Earth in to some peaceful planet or something nice, or take me and my current girl of choice to a new pristine place they build (ala garden of Eden) and let us try our hand at establishing a civilisation. Don't wreck my thoughts by bringing inbreeding in to this.

I think I read somewhere that religious people are more likely to believe in luck, horoscopes, ghosts and other supernatural phenomena. I'm not sure how reliable the source was though.
