Title: The Falling Man Post by oceanZ on Sep 3rd, 2008 at 3:08pm
Did anyone see "The Falling Man" on ABC the other night.?
It was a documantary retelling the horror faced by victims of September 11.. They showed people jumping from the flames to a certain death on the ground below.. I was transfixed by the image of the Falling Man...so much horror and it is only now years after that fateful day Im beginning to really comprehend what the assault on the Twin Towers actually meant for the American people. It was a disturbing image. |

Well, you could either burn, or enjoy your last minute of life in freefall.

Hey, I just thought of a positive from religion, while they were waiting to die, the religious could take comfort in their belief they were going to paradise.
Unfortunately the terrorists on the planes felt the same comfort, but I suppose we should accept that they have their religious beliefs also, and respect them equally, as the right to religious freedom dictates. |

That is a disgraceful thing to write.

Soren it's OK to take advantage of the misery of others to score cheap political points if you do it in the name of atheism. It's all part of the final solution.

Obviously a human life's intrinsic worth is only judged by your ability to empathise with them.
It is amusing how self righteous one can be in ignorance of their own values. |

I didn't watch it the other night, but I had seen it before. Those people jumping out of the buildings was probably the thing that made me the sickest. I just felt for those people who got up and went to work that day and ended up having to choose between being burnt to death or jumping from the 100th or so floor of the building. Dreadful.

I saw a doco by 2 French filmmakers who were actually on site in the WTC lobby during 9/11. There were several minutes of footage where they were hearing loud noises coming from outside the building. It didn't take them long to work out that the sounds were impact noises of jumpers hitting the ground. Also, the fire crew with the doco team had to be careful when exiting the building for fear of falling debris and bodies hitting them. It was a very surreal and eerie moment in the doco. I felt depressed after that. |

The falling man doco is absolutely fantastic. Made me feel very depressed at the start of it, but very uplifted by the end..well, sort of.
The Mosque next to ground zero is a bit disturbing. Muslims have done nothing to renounce the S11 attacks, and have done nothing to deserve our respect. I hope that the U.S. is just joking there, and they'll bomb the fkcu out of it once the money has been spent. |

lol, perhaps they could let them build it, then get all the saudi princes to come and open it, then ram it with a massive convoy of truckers playing country music classics, at full volume on their radios. It would not fall down, but those inside would be driven to commit suicide from listening to bad songs about divorce, and cowboys. |

Yeah but you know what happened at Guantánamo when the yanks intended their unrelenting repetitious music to be akin to a Chinese water torture? The inmates started to like it. Damn! Those guys will like anything!! It probably states a resiliance to being happy and liking whatever is put before you more than anything else. Regarding Helian's recent points: that aspect I find very admirable. You know you're getting old when you start to like country music ;D |

There used to be a funny band in Melbourne back in the early '70's called the Slim Whittle Band, who did parody country music, and he always said he took the O out of C
I do not think I will ever get old enough to enjoy country music Ammad. Except for maybe a little Guy Clark. |

A propos music - when Muslims do this sort of thing at the Mecca or Cairo or Teheran railway station, they can build a mosque wherever they like:
