For example: A company could be trying a new ingredient to add to a product, so be sure its okay to use, they test it on animals. Because its not the final product there testing, they say the product hasn't been tested on animals. |

I'd rather it was tested on animals than myself.
Also, saying a product is not tested on animals doesn't mean much. The ingredients could have been tested on animal by some other company. The animal testing contributes to science, which then benefits everyone, even if you don't want it. But to be fair, it should be tested on both male and female animals. |

Thats true..but awareness must start somewhere Quote:
benefits people..not animals FD..Why should animals suffer for humans? Quote:
What do you find so funny about the suffering of animals? Testing on animals is not neccessary in 2008. |
Title: Re: Animal Testing Post by freediver on Sep 4th, 2008 at 10:11pm
It benefits animals too. Most modern pets live an extraordinarily comfortable life, due in part to the wide range of chemicals we put into and onto them, all of them tested on animals. The knowledge gained from animal testing will be with us forever and will benefit us (and animals) forever.

Yes FD - and how many are sacrificed in the meantime? These poor creatures, dogs, cats, monkeys etc. are kept in tiny, soulless cages in a laboratory. They are stuck with needles, operated on without anaesthetic, given all sorts of chemicals to swallow, burnt, chemicals sprayed in their eyes and on their internal organs - not to mention no stimulation or affection. They are just pincushions.
In fact our councils used to send stray dogs to laboratories to be experimented on until just recently - abhorrent. Perhap it has been necessary to use some animals for transplants, skin grafts etc - but not for something as superficial as makeup, sunglasses etc. I would like to see animal testing banned. Much of it is completely unnecessary and this is fact. |

They test sunglasses on animals? No wonder they don;t fit me properly.

Hmmmm... There was a huge kerfuffle a few years ago about Ray Ban sunglasses and how they were putting chemicals and microwaves into the eyes of monkeys. Possibly the company was protecting themselves from being sued if the frames melted and ran into your eyes. Who knows. |

This is why we need to allow companies to use prisoners as test subjects.
Companies can pay the prison systems to use the prisoners as cosmetic guinea pigs and even for scientific studies. It's much more efficient then animal testing, (thus, medications get on the shelves faster and with more conclusive results) and frankly. I feel more bad for an animal being tested on then someone who beat a little girl to death with a tire iron. |
