Title: are "holy" books media? Post by tallowood on Oct 16th, 2008 at 8:09am
Are The Analects, Bhagavad Gita, Bible, Book of Dead, Book of History, Book of Rites, Book of Songs, Des Kapital, I Ching, Koran, MKCB, Playboy, Spring and Autumn Annals, Tao-te-ching, Upanishads and Vedas media?
PS: If I've missed any other books that are "holy" please add them in this thread. |

Just remembered "Communist Manifesto". I think it is "holy" for some as well. So consider it added up to the list above.

Well they'd be part of the PRINT media... or medium... so what point are you driving at?

Thank you for your answer. At the moment I'm not driving to any point, just trying to clarify if books in the list above are media because in some other thread I was accused of been insulting when I pointed out that one of the books in the list, namely Koran, is media. If I understood you correctly you think that they are, which is coincides with how I see it too. Would like to hear from other members. |

We commie's don't have "holy" books so no, the communist manifesto isn't "holy". Neither is Das Kapital BTW. communism isn't a religion and its users are materialist (atheist) in general, some are religious but the majority of commie's are materialists. |

Was it explained how you were expected to refer to it? I accept technically that they are print media but some may consider them the devine word. I personally, in most cases, consider them interesting inclusions to the fiction section of my book case. |

I did put the word holy in comas so as long as "Communist Manifesto", "MCCB" and "Das Kapital" are authoritative media they are "holy". |

No it was not explained. Word is media too though may be not always printed or claimed to be unprintable. |

Why include communist texts in a thread in the spirituality forum? seems weird to me cause communism is materialist. |

I would argue that Mao's "Little Red Book" is was waved about and considered in the same vein and given the same status as holy scripture. |

I forgot about that one. Consider it to be added to the list. I'm not sure if materialists and atheists are the same but if they are then judging by results of discussion in http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1223116473 them and their "holy" books do belong in spiritual thread. |
