Title: anti goat conspiracy-myth and reality Post by tallowood on Nov 9th, 2008 at 9:07am
Myth:
"Since its inception, Christianity has associated Satan with imagery of goats (see Pan (mythology)). A common superstition in the Middle Ages was that goats whispered lewd sentences in the ears of the saints. The origin of this belief was probably the behavior of the buck in rut, the very epitome of lust. The common medieval depiction of the Devil was that of a goat like face with horns and small beard (a goatee). The Black Mass, a probably-mythological "Satanic mass," was said to involve a black goat, the form in which Satan supposedly manifested himself for worship." Reality: "Jesus is thought to have been born on December 25, which would have made him a Capricorn. The zodiac symbol for Capricorn is a goat." |

Fact: Christians are commanded by the bible to reject things such as astrology and fortune tellers and that kind of stuff. Therefore, your Capricorn claim is irrelevent to Christians and has no basis in Christian thought. |

That's not Jesus, that's a drawing. He might have been a hunchback with a crater face for all we know.

For all we know the Devil may look like a rabbit and not like a goat, which means that Church's anti-goat stance is a baseless conspiracy theory. |

Eff the church. The devil can take on any form it so desires.

That means that Jesus could've been the devil and to hide it he commanded to ignore zodiac evidence of the goat association with real Jesus and supported the disgusting practice of goats genocide. |

Except in the Bible we are taught satan has control of the world, and Jesus was in battle against the rulers of the world, and hardly had political power, all he had was faith and the faithful.
Going by that, Jesus could hardly have been the devil. |

By the same token a goat hardly can be the devil either. Furthermore considering bible story about The Apple and knowing goat's gastronomic habits the conclusion can be made that if the devil was a goat and not a snake then Adam and Eve still would be childless in the Paradise with no apple trees in sight. |

Where is it mentioned in the Bible that the fruit was an apple? The devil can be anything, not just a snake.

That is immaterial as goats would eat any fruit tree instead of leaving them to humans. Actually they even eat lantana and blackberry bushes. |

Yes, cheer up, esel, I'm tired too, did fair distance on kayak today. Soren, have you noticed that Jesus has goatee beard on the picture you have provided? Also I get now pop up about the "Story of Satan" and Satan on this pop up has no facial hair at all. BTW, if Mo talks Jesus into getting a goat as pet I would recommend Australian Miniature Goat. here is the guide lines http://www.australianminiaturegoat.com.au/b_type2breedstandards.htm |

They do look like they'd make nice pets - cheaper to feed than a dog.

Not only that but they also will eat weeds that other grazing animals don't, which is good for keeping paddock in good form as long as you properly control them. |
