hmmm- I didn't really think I had deleted many of your comments sprint? I usually try to mod and explain why something is deleted/modded

I have deleted a few recently that seemed completely off topic and would detract from the convo

I have also done this in the islam forum between abu and...soren or grendel and myself and...soren or grendel (honestly, don't know why I can't separate them atm!)

this is in an attempt to keep things constructive and not go off topic (or merely repeat the same thing)- which I myself know I have a habit of

this is not a personal vendetta against anyone- otherwise I would also have a vendetta out against myself

How on earth do these remarks constitute a personal attack?

If I were to say that my interlocutor has a poor argument and is condemned by his own principles, and ask him whether he is in the service of dark powers - how is that a personal attack? If I were to tell him that the paucity of his argument will always condemn him to losing every argument - how is that a personal attack?  But to say that he will burn in hell is merely a theological misunderstanding.



Gaybriel, please indicate, if you can, the line between robust disagreement,  calling a spade a a spade and acceptable degrees of theological interpretation on the one hand and personal attack on the other.

the reason these were modded was to try to prevent the topic become about Lestat instead of being about Israel/Palestine. They may not have been outright insults (although suggesting someone is Satan's slave is pretty much an insult), they will still directed towards the poster as opposed to what the poster was saying.

now sometimes lines blur between arguing with someone and having a go at someone- this is obviously difficult to mod without censoring people which is why I ask everyone to restrain themselves from making it personal. which I understand is also not easy to do.

anyway- I also agree about the theological misunderstanding which is why I did not delete the thing about hell.

the fact is the topic was not about islam, even if you thought islam was a legitimate part of it, the comments made about Lestat did not contribute to any kind of argument. this is why they were modded

I have not finished modding the topic itself btw as I'm sure there's plenty more to be found on both sides

Perhaps if you have no time you should not moderate at all because if you do a job you should do it properly otherwise you open door for accusation of biased moderation and lame ecxuses. Also that sort of posts may become a regular occurrence on your forum as they seems to be allowable.

Actually it is reference to muslims and it is quiet true that when they lie their lies are easily exposed.
Muslims here including lestat were talking many times about lieing western media referring to members of this forum who have quoted western media. Do you believe in your mind that muslims were using  personal attacks agains members of this forum?

I think many go over the top in how they condemn anything to do with Islam, which unfortunately lets others believe they have the duty to balance it up with their own ethical acrobatics. Mostly I find Gaybriel's modding acceptable, but her very naive understanding of just how far Islamism, and Islam, overlap, causes her to look like an apologist for Islamist excesses, that should broach no acceptance, on any level.

Mozz is right, so many people hate Islam so much they are willing to support Israel in their desire to wipe out Palestine.
The strange thing about it is that Israel is as big a rogue state as Palestine, they just have bigger bombs.
Its about time the world treated Israel the same as everyone else, but that will never happen while Israel wear the USA sherriff badge in the middle east.
Israel is run by the same neo cons that have been running the USA, even with Obama I doubt that will change.

Yadda I wasn't referring to you when I made the comments about censorship - I hadn't noticed that you wrote anything that needed to be censored, but there is some real nastiness on this board & the Islam board at times.  

I'm aware that children are sometimes used as human shields, but children are considered of little importance in third world countries.  The western world is rich and fat yet we allow 50,000 children a day to starve to death.  

There are some terrible things happening in the name of religion, but we have to look at all sides of the conflict.  We can't just blame one group of people because their ways are different to ours.

To support in any way palestinian moslem terrorism is in fact cheering for attacks against deliberately civilian targets.

Informing about IDF rightfully killing terrorists and their brainwashed slaves is not cheering for attacks against civilians.

When moderator ignore first and concentrate on second it is obvious personally biased moderation what ever excuse is.
