We live in interesting times....

A booming India and China will boost our economy, just like Japan did.

As for the political consequences - you'd need a crystal ball for that.

The US is broke.
As of July 2024 it costs $956 billion to maintain the debt, which is 17% of the total federal spending in fiscal year 2024.

NB. that's just paying the interest on the $35 trillion federal debt.

In Australia's region, Muslim states Indonesia and Malaysia are flexing their muscles in the global political environment. Indonesia's population is > 283 million. Malaysia's population >35 million. Pakistan > 250 million Bangladesh > 173 million. White Australians are a regional minority.

These numbers are nothing in comparison to India, China and US all of whom have own interests in the region.

US has no interests in Australia's region, unless you call causing regional mischief an interest.

India is nothing despite >1 billion people.
