Title: Most Americans hate socialism? Post by athos on Nov 29th, 2008 at 12:56pm
Most Americans hate socialism. I don't understand why they love so much capitalism.
CAPITALISM IS GOOD FOR RICH PEOPLE, BUT NOT FOR THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE !! latest polls have said that Americans have a built in computer chip in their heads that says: "I hate quality life, I hate socialism, I prefer free markets of the invisible hand of Adam Smith , Ayn Randand and inhuman social Darwinism of Carnegie. I hate medical care, free universities and I love working 12 hours a day." Is similar in Australia?. |

I'm not arrogant, I'm only pointing out that advocating socialism is incredibly ignorant. |

Actually facts examination reveals that socialist loving ppl of China, Russia, Cuba etc. vote with their feet predominantly in one direction from socialism to capitalism. |

This is also true. Even people leaving Australia/Europe/US and other western countries to go to more capitalist places like Dubai and Hong Kong. |

What about socialism in Sweden? Country that does not have free education and health services can not claim to be civilised. |

People of Sweden opted against socialism too by voting in centre right government in last election. BTW, there is no such thing as free lunch or free education, somebody always pays for it. |

Socialism and capitalism are thrown about as strawmen for the real issues facing our society. All democracies fall somewhere on a spectrum between socialism and capitalism, all through the choice of the people. The two extremes are of little value, except to indicate on which side of the society's current place on the spectrum an individual within that society lies. Referring to the 'centre right' government of another country is pretty useless, as it refers to the position relative to that particular country and is not an absolute measure. By another country's standard that party would likely be extreme left or right wing. People tend to magnify the small variation around their country's position.

to many of them they are too similar to distinguish between. besides the US many Americans believe has been built on the back of capitalism and thus they are even patriotic about it. just watch any non left wing American news channel. |

Opinion polls of US citizens for decades has been to the extreme left of all government policy - aka - they lean towards socialist ideals - aka - entire premise of thread is incorrect.

Capitalism stems from cyniscm. Like I've said before "why should I provide healthcare for people I'd like to see die?"
It might sound sociopathic but think about it. Can't you think of anyone who's hurt you? Wouldn't you like to see them burn in a fire? lol! Ofcourse I don't believe in laseiz-faire capitalism. I see where laseiz-faire capitalism has gotten us on the interbutts. Where I get banned from everywhere while everyone screeches FREEDOM! and circle-jerks eachother and impales anyone with a dissenting opinion. Ayn Rand herself was a crappy writer who was the laughing stock of philosophers and her own school of thought crumbled from basic things like human emotions. Capitalism only works when you think only of yourself. It's a sad and lonely life a capitalist. I use to be alot more right-wing when I was single. Cause yeah, those big coporations treat me like poo, but then so does the working class. And since I only look after myself, I can scrounge for good, plot, steal, and kill. (Social Darwinism as you said) Then, you know, I started dating. And thought "man, it'd be nice if there was some charter colleges that I could go to so I could be more then a minimum wage security guard" or "gee, I sure would like healthcare to be provided for children. Seeing as children never did anything to me." But by Randroid standards that makes me a diehard communist. How dare I take the money people worked for and use it to help kids and people looking for a better life?! That's their porn and booze money! So in a way, socialism appeals to my cyniscm too. I take what is someone elses, and give it to someone who sucks alot less. I feel like Robin Hood. Especially the Snickers one. "Yoiks! And away..." "Who was that guy?" *Rides away laughing on his segway* So when I'm not feeling particularly misanthropic and angst, I tend to "lean-left". Figuring hey, I work, I follow the law, I'm not killing people and kicking puppies. Give me what I want! (I'd like to make note that libertarians in my country think kicking puppies and beating them to death with bricks is okay because they too are property. They'll give you some bullshit like "I'm personally opposed to it but--" Yeah, shutup, you ain't going to do anything about it so don't bother talking..) And what I want is abortion bans, some sensible taxes, a few federal hand-me-outs for the poor and the kiddies, and to leave me the hell alone! That does not happen in "laseiz-faire" capitalism. I told some libertarian that in his group when he said he was going to ban me. Jim Profit: Look at you mr. high and mighty. All I want to do is just come here and talk to people. Share my views. If people don't like it, they can ignore me, or argue with me, or block me. Why do you gotta' step up on my grill?! It's very un-libertarian! Mod: This is my property blahblahblah. The constitution blahblahblah. Buttsex, communists, The Fountainhead, blahblahBLAH! Jim Profit: .....What the hell does any of that even mean?! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You have been banned for the following reasons: Trolling ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Profit: I smacking hate people. |
