Title: A noble and generous offer ........
Post by sprintcyclist on Apr 30th, 2009 at 8:14am

My condolances to the Pratt family.
This is one of the more touching honest realistic actions I have seen for a long time.

Quote:
BILLIONAIRE Richard Pratt's long-time mistress Shari-Lea Hitchcock was granted one stolen hour to say goodbye to her lover in the days before his death.

It was a compassionate gesture by Jeanne Pratt - the cardboard king's wife of 50 years - to the woman who scandalised the family nine years ago when Mr Pratt's long-running affair with the sometime model made newspaper headlines around the nation.

And it was the first and only time Ms Hitchcock, who has an 11-year-old daughter with the billionaire, had been welcomed into the Pratt family's Kew neo-gothic mansion, Raheen, The Daily Telegraph reports.

For one frozen hour on Friday, Mr Pratt's family made way for Ms Hitchcock: this hour belonged to her.

Late last week, the businessman's son and heir Anthony contacted Ms Hitchcock and offered to book her a flight to Melbourne, collect her from the airport and take her to Raheen to farewell Mr Pratt.

According to well-placed sources, Ms Hitchcock was told the condition of her taking the timeslot was that she never speak of the meeting again. .........

Yes how very noble of these billionaires to so graciously allow their Dad's floozy and her bastard child into the house for an hour.

The more I read about Pratt - the more obvious it is that he is a prat and a greedy, capitalist one at that. His dying words were that his businesses keep pushing forward and become even more prosperous.  Has the pig ever thought of all those smaller businesses he's trampled on and whose livelihoods have been lost with the help of our past and present governments and that farce of an organisation called the ACCC?

Why does a person need to be a billionaire?  Could it have anything to do with his religion?

The couple's daughter, Paula, who is the image of her father and named in memory of Mr Pratt's mother, was not at her father's bedside during the meeting.

She was away at a week-long camp with fellow students from her private Sydney school Kambala, returning only on Sunday
.

Its sad for Richard Pratts daughter not to have seen her dad at this meeting ... Was it generous of Pratts wife to allow Ms Hitchcock to see him for one whole hour, depends on a lot of things I guess .

What is saddest is that this child never got the chance to know her dad and lost him before she ever got the chance..

Her parents obviously loved each other.

As a businessman myself I can say that we think of the competitors we crush constantly.  In fact, many of us are motivated very strongly by a desire to destroy the competition.  It's no different than sports, and I get a high from news that a competitor has gone into bankruptcy.  Instead of wringing your hands over this and seeking to defend the weak you should celebrate us for crushing inefficient and outmoded forms of organization so that society continues to evolve.  Life was meant for the strong, and the weak must be crushed or we will all surely die.

Why does a poet need to write poetry?  A billionaire might need his billions more than a poor man needs bread.  Don't presume to know what a man needs based on your own particular circumstances.
