Title: Fringe science-Time to Talk SENS
Post by tallowood on Jun 24th, 2009 at 1:23pm

Quote:
Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence (SENS) is a 25-year long research strategy, currently underway, to develop a regenerative medical procedure to periodically repair all the age-related damage in the human body, thereby maintaining a youth-like state indefinitely.

Quote:
"Engineered negligible senescence" refers to an engineered scenario in which age-related tissue damage can be repaired faster than it accumulates. The expression was coined by British biogerontologist Aubrey de Grey and first appeared in print in his 1999 book The Mitochondrial Free Radical Theory of Aging.

Is it Gilgamesh vs Gods all over again?

For those who are interested in Fringe Science here are two links

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SENS  Read the Framework to see what SENS is about

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epic_of_Gilgamesh this is summary about the Epic, which is probably rhe oldest known literary work produced by humans.
"Gilgamesh might have been a real ruler in the late Early Dynastic II period (ca. 27th century BCE) ... A large portion of the poem illustrates Gilgamesh's search for immortality"

There are also translations of the Epic on the web for those who want to check it for themselves.
