Yeah.  Homo neanderthalensis artifacts of the time are every bit as good as homo sapiens artifacts, indicating considerable intelligence.

The jury is out on whether they had any art though.

Muso is correct in saying that Neanderthals were quite intelligent. They may have averaged larger crania than Homo Sapiens, though they had quite large bodies and were very strong, so their relative brain mass was slightly smaller than Homo Sapiens.

I think that Neanderthals had special way of thinking, similar like today politicians.

Yep, the 'Sub-Human' Neanderthals idea was dumped, or debunked...about 20 yrs ago...

I saw a documentary claiming it was social structure - living in larger (ie more powerful) groups - that lead to HS outcompeting HN. In other words, politics.

Quite possible...As far as we know..Neanderthals lived in family groups, all related...H.Sapiens lived in tribes made up of several family groups...

More individuals= more hands to do the work, which means a greater 'economic' capacity.....

More importantly, it means more clubs next time you run accross and enemy.
