When I was in Sydney a couple of weeks back I was driving through the backstreets of the inner-city areas and came across the huge church of Scientology headquarters. It was in a totally inconspicous location and looked less like a church than a big store. I was weirded out by it and drove out of the area immediately.

Scientology is an interest of mine. They're a totally nutty and brilliantly run organization that makes billions of dollars by masquerading as a religion.

Some of the internet videos of their followers are seriously creepy.

I sometimes wonder if the 'church' of scientology is the victim of a smear campaign, possibly by the major religions. I mean, from what I hear of their beliefs, nobody could be so stupid as to join. Is this impression the direct result of of a concerted campaign of misrepresentation?

Does it mean that you could easily be sucked in by them?

Others may see the videos as "goofy" or "ridiculous", but "creepy" says to me that you are fully prepared to sacrifice truth for your own well being...now that's really creepy. >:(
