Title: Why the scientology ads?
Post by darkhall67 on Sep 10th, 2010 at 1:28pm

I realise a website has got to make some money for operating costs but I was just wondering why the scientology banner ad has been prominently displayed for the past week or so.

Are this forums operators believers in that particular "faith"?

Or is it just a financial decision?

The administration here doesn't select the advertisements. They tend to automatically correspond to whatever is or has been discussed on the site. Most of my ads are interacial dating webpage adverts.

Thank Xenu for that.

I would have hated to un-member myself (no bobbit jokes please) from this forum.

That's right. I use google ads, which takes care of all the admin stuff for me. The ads are based not only on the site and forum content, but I think also on what google knows about your browsing history.

I use firefox, so I don't get to see the ads at all. So I have no idea what is being advertised on my site.

Aha.

Opera has finally offered an "adblocker" function.

Hooray.

No more nonsense.

FWIW I have a relative who used to live in this house who must have went to a Scientology try-out thing, coz we get letters from the Church every few weeks trying to get her to come back.

I don't mind 'cross-breeds'.
I mean, you cross Medicine with Military and you get something like M.A.S.H 4077.
Here you have another cross-breed in Religion and Science.
Again, two complete opposites ...unlike Religion and Art or Health and Sport or Politics and Military.

Scientology is just another Tax-Free-Threshold that offers a lot of people an escape from boredom as well.
There are a lot of good Scientific approaches to life wrapped up in Scientology, but they are promoted Religiously and Tax-Free in a subtle form of "just another business" like everyone else.

I don't mind Scientologists, I'm not afraid or worried by them, no more than I am about other such groups getting together.
Like I said, its just a Hybrid and if anything - its the weak link in allowing Religious groups like the HillSong and Brethren amongst others here in Australia ...to lose the Tax-Free-Threshold.

...why doesn't my Scuba Club have a Tax-Free-Threshold?
:-?
