Title: No ANZAC day thread? SHAME.
Post by Humbug on Apr 25th, 2011 at 11:51am
I'm actually not suprised no one started an ANZAC day thread here what with all the rabid socialists, greenies and 'progressives' on here.
Shame on you.
Though i can understand why, it really does not have much to do with our dead society where arabic has become the second most spoken language amongst the youth.
And lets also remember that the diggers did not fight for multiculturism as many leftards would argue foaming at the mouth, but for the WAP which was so popularly supported right up until the great brainwashing doctrines were introduced in the 1970's.

And before people here scream '''but the WAP was removed in the late 1960's''.... Let me ask you, was this done by referendum? Me thinks not.

1) Yes, first & foremost, let's remember the diggers, many of whom gave their lives, so we can disagree, in Peace, if not harmony!

2) It seems you may not have looked in the Politicians Suck section where a rabid Righty started a thread.

3) It also seems that you may not have heard that the countries youth are attending Anzac Day in increasing numbers and this country is far from dead.

Btw, I am neither Right nor left, as you would tell from my other posts, I don't have much time for Politicians in general!

It might have been better if you had have left it at "no one started an ANZAC day thread"

Was the rest of the world fighting for our White Australia Policy? I bet they didn't know that.

The very people who were fighting along side of us were the ones that the WAP was all about.

Are you upset because the Turks kicked our arse? you should be upset with the brits about that fiasco.

It's wrong to put your racist beliefs onto the ANZAC remembrance. To suggest that you know the attitudes or opinions of the men that fought in the trenches is atrocious!

Considering Australia has consistently had the HIGHEST SUICIDE RATE in the World,
do you think I give a hoot about Mercenaries going off to fight for UK/USA (the West) Political Agendas?

The Turks dug-in as DIGGERS better than the invasive ANZACS upon their home-land.

Lest we forget how we have invaded other nations - shame, shame, shame.

Can't wait for the Bolivians to show the true Military way for the world.

Lest We Forget

thank you pansi...lest we forget

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

This is what our young Aussies think  of the sacred grounds at Gallipoli where they made that special trip to remember our brave soldiers. Is that the modern day poppy?

Assuming that the pic is legit, then Aussies would have been well-represented (no pun intended) in the crowd...

The mess does seem to be a combination of bad manners and bad planning on the part of the organisers: litter abounds but there's not a rubbish bin in sight...

You show a tenuous grasp of history pansi. The Gallipoli campaign was a rare Ottoman win in a war which saw them soundly beaten, and also one of the few campaigns where the defenders lost more men than the attackers.
I'm also pretty sure my granddad was not thinking about fighting for a multicultural Australia, or even his unborn children and grandchildren, when the Germans were shooting at him on the western front. In fact, I would bet anything that he considered the white race superior to any other, as was normal at the time.

I don't like how they twist the facet of 'respecting' the Elderly for the benefit of ANZAC glory, either.

I think the S.E.S has done more for this country directly than any ANZAC act ...the lives they have saved count for something in a nation that struggles at times to have a substantial population growth without the need for immigration.

"ANZAC day?"  :-? "Ok, give us a Cookie and then bugger off with your desperate attempt for patriotism - American style." ::)

WWI - Let's celebrate our introduction to hating the French!  :D

In Robert Graves' biography ("Goodbye to all that") he describes a fellow veteran: One shell-shocked fellow said "Never war for me, never again. Unless it's against the French. If it's against the French I'll be there like a shot."

Their experience was things like the french refusing to lend them any trainst to ferry the wounded upline to the hospitals. And when they brought their OWN trains to do so, the French charged then rent for use of their railway lines. They watered the beer and wine and charged a fortune for it, and a host of other things.

Yet in other places in France, Allied war dead are still treated with great reverence and respect. A curious people.

d.

Right on. We should spare a thought for the people who protect us everyday, soldiers and police, who look after us when we're sick (doctors, nurses, ambos), the teachers and the technicians and everyone who has made excellent use of the time and safety that the ANZACs have bought, sometimes with their own lives.

What a bizarre thread - now we are REQUIRED to honour the country's soldiery, not only implicitly, but EXPLICITLY?
