She's beautiful!
Why the hell would anyone want to hurt or kill her? Oh wait, religion of peace and all that..

What a sad state of affairs, that women feel pressured to sell their bodies for money. They become just another commodity to be hocked off to the highest bidder.

She hasn't sold her body, she's sold her bodies image, there's a difference.

I sort of agree with Abu on this matter, I think it is sad that females feel a greater pressure to have to do "nudity" if they want to pursue an acting career, as this girl obviously does.

While people like myself, have no qualms in being critical of the elements within Islam that promote the ridiculous dress standards imposed on some women, to be perceived as suitably modest, we in the western world should seriously question what message we are imposing on women via the cult of youth and beauty as being the primary qualities a woman has to offer.

A healthy middle ground would be a nice thing to see, where women feel free to expose their bodies in natural surroundings, like a beach, but do not feel they are less of a woman if they choose not to, and that they deserve to be, and are, valued for the type of person they are, not for the shape of their body.

Excellent example foolos, it is a graphic representation of how even a young attractive woman, who is a talented and successful actress feels she needs to depict herself, to be seen as a powerful woman, by posing to suggest a sexually voracious personality.

She could have been dressed normally, in jeans and t shirt, and spoken about her acting career, and how she does not need every second picture of her be made to make her look like she is panting for sex from the first passing stranger.

Its Men who make all the decisions sadly.

Look at the news readers on the commercial networks. The MALE newsreader gets better with age, matures and increases his integrity etc. He can even be losing his hair and not all that attractive. Doesnt matter with men.

The Female newsreader equivalent or weather presenter is churned out and recycled - generally very young.

The Male driven CORPOCRACY rules in the west - we are all ebslaved by it.

Typical MALE weather presenter (ABC Mark Carmody)

Typical FEMALE weather presenter (ABC Sarah Cumming)

And when the executives think people are bored with Sarah's appearance she will be moved on for the next piece of meat

Isn't it really about cultural capital? I don't think it's fair or realistic not to expect that a person exploits their best assets. Some people are wealthy, some are highly intelligent, some are gifted as musicians etc. and some are beautiful. It seems to me that practically all people exploit what they have.

In the case of  Sila Sahin, I'm not convinced that it was about money, or money alone and I think it took courage. We could all name some handsome young men who've made it as TV presenters and some women who've managed to carry on well past their prime. And isn't the female form just asthetically perfect?

Abu, what do you think of the nipple ring? (Or is that some kind of smudge on my screen?) Does Islam allow that?
