Title: Mankind, just look at our history

Mankind, just look at our history

Look, at the behaviour of mankind throughout history.

Is our human behaviour, historically, indicative of 'something', about us which we innately can feel is true, even while we have no tangible evidence, of what many of us can feel ???

It is a fact, that for all of recorded human history [as an expression of man's desire to 'commune' with the 'gods'], man has built temples.

And on a purely psycho-logical level, WHY is that?

And to all of you 'rationalists' and 'scientists' out there!,
....even if you are an atheist,
....doesn't that behaviour say something about us [mankind] ?

MANKIND'S FASCINATION WITH BUILDING TEMPLES [a house, for a 'god', to dwell in]...

Can i suggest, that, i believe that man has always been 'moved' to build temples, in recognition of an 'internal' need, to alleviate his perceived separation, from that which gives him life.

Can i suggest, that, mankind has always built temples, to symbolically represent a physical, tangible 'place', where his 'god' abides, being a symbolic representation of the 'felt' truth about 'reality', about himself?

And as a futile attempt by man, to bring the (a) spiritual 'God' into his tangible, physical world?

Can i suggest, that mankind's compulsive behaviour in this regard, flows from an inner need, a subconscious need? [within physical man], to acknowledge another 'reality' which [indeed] many of us sense,
....i.e the existence of a [spiritual] God.

Or, is mankind's inclination to 'temple building' a reflection of a flaw in our psyche ?

As a person 'embedded' within, and engrossed by this modern age, are you certain that the subconscious 'intuitions' of many [of your fellow humans], are wrong ?

Is a particular innate knowledge 'wrong', when that knowledge is not apparent within the tangible world, and when it is not shared by the majority of mankind ?

"I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God."

"Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?"

"And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel."

"....they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring."

Buddists call the body the temple.
Christians the building.

I am reminded of what a lady said to me once:

"You have done the error that 9 out of 10 people do in finding God.
"You have tried to bring IT  down to your level." {emphassis God's}

It is the hardest mystery of all presently because you can barely see God even within. Such is the failing of mankind.

And that no tangible evidence exists is always the biggest misnumber of all, especially scientists.
For order and design is a myriad more than man's every construct.
For Heaven's sake, this world would be chaos, and this age will be known as the Blind Age.

Or, indeed, inthought, the Physical Age.

I just prefer to call it the Dark Age.  [smiley=happy.gif]

It seems your main dilemnma was whether GOD exists. Quite the profoundest and soundest quest, if you see before, and listen.
