Title: Slipper bends over for Brough
Post by GoddyofOz on Sep 3rd, 2011 at 5:17pm

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-09-03/slipper-lnp-resignation-threats/2869360

Quote:
Federal MP Peter Slipper is expected to continue his support for the Opposition despite threatening to resign from the LNP and move to the cross benches.

Newspaper reports said Mr Slipper would resign if former Howard government minister Mal Brough was elected Chair of the Federal Divisional Council in the Queensland seat of Fisher.

The move would give the Gillard Government a much-needed two-seat majority over the Coalition.

Mr Brough was elected to the elected to the position today, but LNP President Bruce McIver says Mr Slipper will continue to support the Opposition despite the resignation threats.

This is all occurring in my Electorate, and I have friends in low places who attended today's meeting.

Slipper was given an overwhelming shellacking by local Libs and Nats.  He has been shunned by them.

I was told (by people who were at the meeting) that if Slipper somehow manages to retain LNP endorsement for the next election (which would be quite amazing given today's events) Brough will run as an Independant.

:)

I actually remember you saying a year ago Slipper had no chance of getting preselected again,Aussie. I told the num nut rightards here last week Slipper would walk out on the Libs and take up the speakers job if it became vacant, I'm sooooooooo glad I was right about him walking and the stupid rightards have egg all over their face, AGAIN. ;D ;D ;D Thanks for the leg up aussie, I put it to good use. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Slipper told the local LNP Members:

Quote:
“If the coup is successful, my position as a parliamentary member of the LNP becomes untenable,'' Mr Slipper wrote.

Well, Pete, the coup was successful.  So, what now Pete?  Just how untenable is untenable??

:D

Guess what?

Abbott has backed Slipper after his own local LNP people turned their backs on him...... en masse.

What a surprise, wot ho!!  Slipper is on the nose with his own, and yet Abbott still sucks him.  Must be quite a hornet's nest of love in the LNP.

Ha!

Kind of sounds like Gillard and the member for Dobell. Another act of hypocrisy by Abbott.

So, this is the untenable he meant.  It was the 'situation' and not what he first said which was that his 'position' would become untenable.  Ha!

so has Slipper been accused of stealing thousands and spending in on hookers.. and self interest...has he been accused of getting money from the ALP to pay his debts..to ward off bankruptcy whilst at the same time applying for planning for extentions to his home to the tune of $100.000.
