Are you kidding me? Our Governments now have to PAY Companies that were Australian to begin with to keep manufacturing here? What an absolute disgrace. I say let them go, and see if they like the bad publicity they get as a result. |

Yes that should impress the 5000+ people who'll be out of work if General Motors US decides to pull the plug on Holden.... |

cannot see the sense in the Australian tax payers paying foreign companies $billions in BRIBES to keep manufacturing in Australia just to save a few thousand jobs. Juliar & Swan are always saying there are plenty of jobs about if you want one. |

Governments to pay Holden to stay in Australia
Why do you think that every car manufacturer chucks a fit about once a decade and threatens to leave? The Government support just keeps rolling in, been going on for at least 4 decades. |

SO, ....WHAT'S YOUR POINT? Or are you just having a whinge and sitting on the fence hoping someone else will tell you what they think should happen ? ;) ;) ;) |

You can't??....Hmmm. The better result might be for the government to take it over, if/when GM pulls the plug... Unless you're all in favour of having every new car in Australia arriving by boat from overseas. |

With the $billions in Australian tax payer subsidises Australian politicians have given Holden & Ford over the past few decades, then they could have owned them both outright. The Government will not take over Holden as a public asset because they will deem it not internationally profitable because of the high manufacturing labour costs. We all know every public asset politicians sold were solid profitable assets at the time of their sale, but the politicians were just too incompetent managers to manage the public businesses or the country was going broke and they needed some quick cash. |

Why should the Australian tax payers be financially burdened by subsidising foreign owned companies like GM/Holden to the tune of $billions of dollars to keep the afloat because they are in financial trouble, when our public owned business like the “Commonwealth Bank” “QANTAS” and “TELSTRA” were sold because they were deemed to be financial liabilities?
Why are Australian politicians giving tax payer money to keep foreign owned companies going when they didn’t do the same thing to keep public owned assets? |

My family and their associated businesses are doing their bit by never buying cars made by American owned car companies. I suggest everyone does the same and put and end to the mafia style tactics they use to feather their own nests at taxpayers expense.
