Title: The fulfilment of the laws by Jesus .......
Post by Sprintcyclist on May 21st, 2012 at 1:21pm

Posted here to be fair.
So all can post without hesitation

Quote:
.........Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.”
Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him.
With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”In that hour Jesus said to the crowd, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me. But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted him and fled...........

Matthew has a lot of sword-play in it:

Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the Earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
[Matthew 10:434]

(Jesus said) "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the way of the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the rabbis, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

[Matthew 5:17-20]

Why are there different gospels, and why are they differenent and sometimes contradictory?

Bible scholars tell us that the Gospels were adapted from other written sources.

Where is the original Gospel?  ;D

What was accomplished falah ?
here is a clue
Quote:
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh,

there are 4 gospels.

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Written by 4 of the 12 disciples.
I assume they are not identical as they came from 4 diffeent people, who may not have been all with Jesus at all the same times.

Had they been identical, one would justly suspect collusion.
As they are, they could well be evidence in a court of law.

You don't know much about Christianity do you?

Christian scholars, themselves, admit that at least three of the gospel books in the Bible were not written by disciples.

The Christian scholars cannot even agree amongst themselves whether it was Matthew or Mark which was written by a disciple.

The newest gospel book in the Bible, John, is graetly different from the other 3.

The two main theories of Christian scholars is that either Mark or Matthew is the oldest, written by a disciple. The other 2 similar gospels are based both on the olser version and some other unknown source labelled 'Q'.

The strongest opinions amongs modern Bible scholars is that:

Mark is thought to written about 65-73 AD
Matthew is thought to be written 70-100 AD
Luke is thought to be written 70-100 AD
John is thought to be written 90-110 AD

You obviously no little about law. Nobody knows who wrote them, how could they possibly be used in court?

Falah, why is it that you are happy to tell Christians what is in the bible but you can't give a straight answer about the Koran?

falah - the repeated question is "what was accomplished"?

I'll bet  he won't answer it, just divert.

When was Romans written? Not in the time of Jesus. Who wrote it? Paul the Heretic, Persecutor of the followers of Jesus.

Paul was never a follower of Jesus nor knew him before Jesus's crucifixion; instead he persecuted the early Christians. Although Paul refers to himself as an "Apostle" of Jesus, it is clear that Paul was not one of "The Twelve" apostles

Paul, then known as Saul, was a "zealous" Pharisee who "intensely persecuted" the followers of Jesus.

Before his conversion, Paul, then known as Saul, was a "zealous" Pharisee who "intensely persecuted" the followers of Jesus.

Paul also discusses his pre-conversion life in his Epistle to the Philippians (3:4-6)

Quote:
If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more:
circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church (of Jesus)...

and his participation in the stoning of Stephen is described in Acts 7:55-8:3

Quote:
But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

And he told them, "Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing in the place of honor at God's right hand!"

At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.

While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."...

...And Saul was there, giving approval to his death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.

Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him.

But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.

thanks for an answer.
I see it a bit differently. "Until judgment day" tells me when something is accomplished till.
It does not tell me what was accomplished.

the laws showed us where we were wrong. Which was in MANY ways. Due to our errors, we were seperated from God.
Jesus paid for the sins for all.
Jesus enabled anyone who wants to to be able to be with God.

Now that's an accomplishment.

God likes it too

You don't believe in the coming of a Heavenly Government or you wouldn't be here!

Nor does Tony Abbott nor any other voting religious person!

Jesus did say a lot of things but what has god got to do with it? There is no god. Prove otherwise.
It's alright making these pompous self serving statements but they mean nothing.
