There will be a very logical and simple explaination for this that you have not realised, i just can not remember it. OH yes that's it... you are a stupid left wing laborite and its all Thompsons fault that Gillard was mis quoted and John Howard should be god. Think that covers it. :D :D :D ;D ;D ;) ;) :)

Silly and pretty dumb really.

The first question should have been lined up professionally if they were only going to ask about one government rebate/subsidy.

The question should have been:

Do you support all/every government rebate/subsidy to be means tested.

Outcome would have been close to 0 hypocritical difference all round.

Did green_loser set this poll up or is this just a progressive thing to try and fool people.

This is what i have never understood about this thing. Its PRIVATE meaning you pay for it - how the heck can they means test it when you have paid for a service?

This rebate was bought in by the Liberals in late 90s (I may be wrong there but i think it was then)  It was meant to assist families with the rising cost of private health insurance.  Of course - as with most things - the Helath funds increased their prices and the rebate was nugutory.   My private health is around $3k a year and I get around $1k back.  if they take the rebate away it wouldn't really worry me but I think it would cause a lot of families to reconsider their private health needs.

no I dont.. as I am looking at getting a hip replacement..I am now going through the first steps..seeing the surgeon.. have been told basically going public and going private doesnt mean a thing..it all depends on how bad your situation is.. and we all have the same surgeon..and even the private patient can end up in the public wards...

when I made my remarks I wsnt thinking about what I will get..I was thinking about how I would vote if I was in that situation..

rebates you vote how they affect you personally in other words..

and whats the point anyway we dont vote on one issue do we?

Wrong again Cods,
I do have private cover, and the difference is you won't get a bill.
I pay over 4k a year insurance (nett after rebates) and have the added bonus of receiving bills for aspects that private insurance does not cover.

Why have it?
Basically so I can always guarantee my loved ones will not be chucked in a queue, when they are in need of medical attention.

Unluckily, we are all disgustingly healthy, always have been, and I am hoping at least I can develop some expensive to treat disease, so I can start feeling like I have not been wasting my money. ;D

Okay. Bit like the private schools thing. Why is govt giving a rebate for something private?

If I may make a suggestion - rather than going for one big, chronic ailment, why not begin collecting small, acute ones? How about a recurrent bout of VD, acquired, as if in an around-the world adventure, in a wide variety of settings and circumstances? It could make you feel like a 19th century poet while rejoicing in the knowledge of having your money's worth as far as Swanny is concerned.

:P
