Yeah the problem with this forum is you cant search for the topic only words in the posts. SOB |

This allows you to search for words in the thread title:
http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?action=search You can choose to search your own posts via the tick boxes or also someone else's. Make sure you choose "posted in by someone" in the dropdown box. |

Is this search exhaustive or is it limited in some way? I've used the search function in the past and it seemed to find only recent posts. |

Just had another look. It is limited to 15 posts. Is there any reason for this?

It's often easier (and MUCH quicker!) just to use google to do the search instead of the inbuilt search facility. You can tell google to search this site only by including
site:ozpolitic.com in your search terms. For example: Quote:
Returned this thread as the first hit. You may not find stuff that's been posted very recently (anything from the last hour to maybe the last day) but google usually keeps up to date pretty well. |

Thanks, Gist. That's a really useful tip.

yeah the inbuilt search facility is absolute trash on this site
15 results? what? it also takes forever to find anything |

It restricts you to retrieving no more than the last 25 posts rather than 15. A bit odd, given that most forums will give you everything back to post number one - must just be a limitation of the software that they're using.
You should be able to find it using Google though - just put in your user name and a couple of key words from the post and it should come up in the results. |

It's a limitation of the forum. In previous versions, it was possible to post any value. They decided to limit this to 25 when they came up with YaBB 2.4 as a spam protection script. Previously you could insert any figure and it could bring the forum down to a crawl if several spambots fif the same thing. 25 seems like a low figure though. There is a simple edit that can work around it, but it's up to FD if he wants to go that way. |
