We can see clearly now through transparency lie

THE Greens have exposed themselves as just another political party.

Years of principled advocacy for transparency in government through broad Freedom of Information laws were jettisoned yesterday when Greens leader Christine Milne backed a Treasury decision to refuse the FOI release of taxpayer-funded costings of her own policies.

If such costings could be obtained under FOI, Senator Milne said, it would mean parties would be unable to "get a reliable costing to make a decision". The comment was neither logical nor consistent with the Greens long-claimed devotion to openness.

Also short on logic is the commonwealth's decision to keep the Greens' costings secret. How on earth could a Treasury costing of the policy of a party that is not even part of the government qualify for FOI exemption on the basis that it is a cabinet document or somehow forms part of the deliberative process of cabinet?

Taxpayers funded this work and ought to have a right to access what they paid for.

We all know what the Greens policies are, before and after each election but what are Abbotts policies and where are the costings so we can all make an informed decision.

The Greens do not advocate for environmental protectionism anymore they are lobbyists for the dissolution of the Australian nation state and represent as foreign agents.

I don't recall any party ever releasing policy costings with the exception of election promises in an election campaign.

When I see Tony the Rat's costings I'll worry about the Greens costings.
Mind you..no ones expecting the Greens to grab power at the next election but the Libs are telling us they are much better than the present govt and will be in power the day after the next election without giving us all of their alternative policies and costings

the OP is about FOI... I dont recall any other party voting against  FOI on their costings.. could be wrong of course I not being so worldly as those on here.

but I do find it strange that a party that is soooooooo perfect doesnt have a thing to hide...
