Well todays news poll,(that our esteemed rightardss like longweekend tell us is always right) has Labor JUMPING 5 points in primary votes to what eventuates as a 54/46 TPP, WITH STILL OVER A YEAR until the next election. The voters have realised phony Tony is full of sh it and ae shunning his lies. The most interesting part of this poll is 26 % of voters say they dont support Gillard or Abbott, over a quarter of people that will vote dont support either party, with those sort of numbers undecided only a total moron would call the next election done and dusted. Quote:
26% is massive, LOL tol the fools that think the next election is already won. ;D |

LOL @ skippy.
The poll is just a false dawn. Gillard has been hiding away on and people are watching the olympics. Congrats on your optimism. |

What this tells me is that Australians like labor, but hate gillard (out of the news). Change leader and they will win the election.

While Labor may have picked up Greens votes and possibly also Lieberal votes, Labor has also clearly picked up uncommitted voters. There are still a substantial number of uncommitted voters - 12% (or 137 votes in the current sample). Win them over and it's a different picture altogether. |

Next you'll be telling me gold medal isn't banned member, longweekend. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Its pretty easy ,for me at least, to pic out the sox, I've been here for over 5 years and before you lot from yahoo turned up we didn't have sox, then you lot turned up and it was obvious that the same poster was using different nicks, the fact the likes of you whine about it being pointed out just makes you look guilty as well. I remember a lot of yahoo posters saying you were not posting from the USA as well, Andreia. Besides, I dont whine about the sox, I just let them know that I know by referring to them as one of their other IDs, like shane is matty, who I always picked as Mel. Hey Mel is bright, you wouldn't be bright enough to pull off the mutli sox she can,Andreia. |

I call posters socks whenever I believe they are. Frankly, I don't give a rats if they really are or not. If they were so distinct from everyone else then there wouldn't be any doubt would there? You never see me call lolly or longfool socks. Or cods for that matter.
Anyone complaining about being called a sock and who isn't one should go look in the mirror for the fault. Stop bleating like yet another sheep in the flock and you won't be mistaken for one. |

It's not abuse, it's merely pointing out that I think a fair few of you (you're not the only one) need to grow up a bit.
I rarely come here and when I do - it's the same crap every day. You all pick sides, like there is some sort of dividing line and then you just hurl crap at each other. "Rightards" and "Leftards", I mean bugger me, what's that about. There are few people left on here whose opinion seems sane or sensible, Adelcrow, Mozza and Smithy mainly. That's about it. Your posts are just hurling crap about Abbott or pointing out every man and his dog is Mellie. Then there's guys like Gist who has 99% of his posts as just abusing someone. I give up, I really do. |

Title: Re: Voters wake up. Post by john_g on Aug 7th, 2012 at 12:44pm
The sock thing is really tiresome.
I am sick of hearing about it, to be honest. I myself have been accused of being matty, of all people, which is very unusual because we have some very different views in areas. Whether or not someone is a sock, I don't know, but I think it's best to go by the 'innocent until proven guilty' approach, as I know how annoying it is to be accused of someone you're not. One ID is plenty for me. I haven't even teh faintest clue who 'mellie is'. Another thing I don't like here, is that most of you, on both sides, tend to think that one must be for one party, if you're against the other. I have spoken at length about how much I detest Gillard and Labor, but have also spoken out against Abott and the Coalition. Of course I have gone off more at Labor, but that's because they're the government of the day, and the worst I've seen. I am no fan of Abbott, it's a lesser of two evils situation. I'll judge Abbott if/when he becomes the PM. Now, rant over, and to be relevant to the original post, I don't think much can be drawn from it for a few reasons. Gillard has been on holidays and Abbott has barely been seen either. Isn't it funny that both of their approval ratings go up when they're not around? Such confidence in the two of them. It's just one poll, as well, too early to call it a trend. If it is the start of a trend, mind you, I think that it's good. I do want a change of government, but I want an effective Opposition too. State-wise, O'Farrell and Newman have ridiculous majorities, far far too big and there is virtually no Opposition in NSW. In Qld, there practically is no Oppositio, literally. To have good government, you need to have good opposition. |
Title: Re: Voters wake up. Post by mozzaok on Aug 7th, 2012 at 1:13pm
Firstly I want to agree with Andrei, the abuse and level of sensible debate are in inverse proportion, and when one goes up, the other invariably goes down.
Mad mel is a serial loon, we have unfortunately seen morph through so many ID's that any idiotic ultra right foolishness is assumed to be her in a new guise, but as we know from listening to talkback radio, she is not the only nut in the packet, so sounding like mad mel does not prove it is mad mel, so better to stop assuming, and just address the issues. The issue I think this thread highlights for me is that whilst the media is still firmly backing the coalition, and slagging Labor incessantly still, the actions of the Liberal State Govenments is reminding people what the Libs deliver in power. Attacks on Health and Education services is always where they start, and the closing of Swinburne University Campuses in Lilydale, and Prahran, with the loss of initially 500 teachers jobs, with more to follow next year is exactly what will be echoed across the whole country, under an Abbott Government. Running down services and infrastructure, and overseeing the lowering of standards across the whole education system will be the inevitable result, with the attached social degradation that goes hand in hand with less youth engagement in education. Now while some won't care, the fact is that those five hundred folks losing their jobs have friends and families, and many were coalition supporters, but witnessing this education vandalism has many questioning if they could continue to support a party who destroys education opportunity for our future. That type of reaction will be repeated as these right wing governments continue to remind people what Liberal Parties deliver, and so I think the longer it is before the Federal Election, the less people will fall at Abbotts feet, despite the best efforts of the media to portray Labor as an unsupportable option. I still think he will win easily, but not QLD style, because down south we do not have the same lemming mentality going. |

Title: Re: Voters wake up. Post by mozzaok on Aug 7th, 2012 at 1:54pm

|
Title: Re: Voters wake up. Post by mozzaok on Aug 7th, 2012 at 2:20pm
A bit too simple, as people legitimately use proxies as part of their online protocol to protect their identity, so innocents would be excluded with the guilty.
Pests will always make their presence felt in any community, personally I still think ignoring the loons is the best policy, even though they do make it hard to do so. |

Nevertheless, whether someone is a 'sock' shouldn't matter if you are confident in your argument. If you're confident in your position, then your opponent will fall, and all the 'socks' he/she is supposed to have will be defeated by that same argument. |

Is it coincidence or by design that so many threads are derailed via one pretext or another?
The political content is basically sports-politics, i.e., 'My team versus your team'. Which is precisely how the architects of not only Australia's effed-up system want it - it's repeated throughout the Western world The sports-politics system is for low IQs and those destined to become low-IQs. The Keep It Simple, Stupid brand. My team agin your team ... 'just like the footie' ... just like the Holden vs Ford mobs ' We've always voted Labor in this family, son' mobs. And how nice we have another fake party to make up the 'other side' (enter now the proud Liberal voters, wearing their team's footie sox and scarves) How neat, huh? Two sides. Nice and simple. Just like Cowboys vs Indians in those old Westerns which were used as kiddies' programming, along with Good Cops and Dirty Bad Guys Yeah, let's keep it simple, stupids Night vs Day Hot vs Cold Rich vs Poor Black vs White Men vs Women Good vs Bad Winter vs Summer North vs South High vs Low In vs Out Keeping them stupid - hooking the dummies into the fake two-party political systems and reinforced in alleged 'politcal' threads Keeping the dummy voters focused on This or That. The sports-politics model Steer them away from alternatives. Keep it simple When, instead, those dumbed-down voters should be asking themselves why NEITHER of the fake two parties have proposed or ARE proposing a reintroduction of Aussie manufacturing It's because we don't want or need jobs, huh? We want to sit here with more going to the wall every day, in order we can continue importing mass-produced excreta from third worlders who are buying all the new vehicles WE used to buy -- who are buying up all those properties WE used to buy and own -- and so we can fight for the right to hold down part-time service work catering to rapidly increasing middle-class third-worlders who now holiday on our shores Oh yeah, keep it simple, stupids. Create diversions about sock freaking puppets and continue buying into the fake two-party systems, BOTH of which hate your guts and are selling your grandchildrens' futures down the poverty creek |

If people want to make points from a different ID name then fine.
I personally don't or see the point but anyways, it's not my call on if they do or not. If people concentrate on the topics, make comments on political views and argue an issue - then its all irrelevant. My point really was most of skippy's comments seem to be about who is who from a "sock" perspective - I mean seriously - who gives a toss? Gist just abuses and again rarely posts about a topic. PS - Longweekend, if you have chosen to go with this user name - I find it an interesting one. Gold Medal? At a time when your shambles of an olympic team seem to be able to win anything but that??? Where are you now? 14th or something? Seen how many we have? :) |

I don't particularly care that they do it - as long as they stick to the rules - but I don't see why I need to play along. What does concern me a bit more are the cases where one person seems to run multiple ids at the same time. I think that can lead to pointless trolling and effectively spamming of threads. Just imagine lots of Prevaling/Corpulant_Whiney on every thread. |
