Well todays news poll,(that our esteemed rightardss like longweekend tell us is always right) has Labor JUMPING 5 points in primary votes to what eventuates as a 54/46 TPP, WITH STILL OVER A YEAR until the next election.
The voters have realised phony Tony is full of sh it and ae shunning his lies.
The most interesting part of this poll is 26 % of voters say they dont support Gillard or Abbott, over a quarter of people that will vote dont support either party, with those sort of numbers undecided only a total moron would call the next election done and dusted.

They're down from 14 per cent when Milne took over.

Anyway, Essential Media have been more consistent.

Their report still has Labor at 44 per cent versus 56 per cent to the Coalition.

Greens went from 11% to 10% ie 126 -> 114 = 12 votes lost

So no, you're wrong. While Labor may have picked up Greens votes and possibly also Lieberal votes, Labor has also clearly picked up uncommitted voters.

The only people that look silly are the ones that dont realise mellie runs multi sox, your numbers are pretty close, there probably are only about 20 posters here other than the 5 or 6 that run multi sox. Its pretty easy ,for me at least, to pic out the sox, I've been here for over 5 years and before you lot from yahoo turned up we didn't have sox, then you lot turned up and it was obvious that the same poster was using different nicks, the fact the likes of you whine about it being pointed out just makes you look guilty as well. Still ranting? nothing to add to the topic? I'e asked you 4 times now. Maybe its best you dont come here to troll, you just spoil the experience for the rest of us.

The sock thing is really tiresome.

I am sick of hearing about it, to be honest. I myself have been accused of being matty, of all people, which is very unusual because we have some very different views in areas.

Whether or not someone is a sock, I don't know, but I think it's best to go by the 'innocent until proven guilty' approach, as I know how annoying it is to be accused of someone you're not.

One ID is plenty for me. I haven't even teh faintest clue who 'mellie is'.

Another thing I don't like here, is that most of you, on both sides, tend to think that one must be for one party, if you're against the other. I have spoken at length about how much I detest Gillard and Labor, but have also spoken out against Abott and the Coalition.

Of course I have gone off more at Labor, but that's because they're the government of the day, and the worst I've seen. I am no fan of Abbott, it's a lesser of two evils situation. I'll judge Abbott if/when he becomes the PM.

Now, rant over, and to be relevant to the original post, I don't think much can be drawn from it for a few reasons. Gillard has been on holidays and Abbott has barely been seen either.

Isn't it funny that both of their approval ratings go up when they're not around? Such confidence in the two of them. It's just one poll, as well, too early to call it a trend.

If it is the start of a trend, mind you, I think that it's good. I do want a change of government, but I want an effective Opposition too.

State-wise, O'Farrell and Newman have ridiculous majorities, far far too big and there is virtually no Opposition in NSW. In Qld, there practically is no Oppositio, literally.

To have good government, you need to have good opposition.

Firstly I want to agree with Andrei, the abuse and level of sensible debate are in inverse proportion, and when one goes up, the other invariably goes down.
Mad mel is a serial loon, we have unfortunately seen morph through so many ID's that any idiotic ultra right foolishness is assumed to be her in a new guise, but as we know from listening to talkback radio, she is not the only nut in the packet, so sounding like mad mel does not prove it is mad mel, so better to stop assuming, and just address the issues.

The issue I think this thread highlights for me is that whilst the media is still firmly backing the coalition, and slagging Labor incessantly still, the actions of the Liberal State Govenments is reminding people what the Libs deliver in power.
Attacks on Health and Education services is always where they start, and the closing of Swinburne University Campuses in Lilydale, and Prahran, with the loss of initially 500 teachers jobs, with more to follow next year is exactly what will be echoed across the whole country, under an Abbott Government.
Running down services and infrastructure, and overseeing the lowering of standards across the whole education system will be the inevitable result, with the attached social degradation that goes hand in hand with less youth engagement in education.
Now while some won't care, the fact is that those five hundred folks losing their jobs have friends and families, and many were coalition supporters, but witnessing this education vandalism has many questioning if they could continue to support a party who destroys education opportunity for our future.

That type of reaction will be repeated as these right wing governments continue to remind people what Liberal Parties deliver, and so I think the longer it is before the Federal Election, the less people will fall at Abbotts feet, despite the best efforts of the media to portray Labor as an unsupportable option.
I still think he will win easily, but not QLD style, because down south we do not have the same lemming mentality going.

If the Can't keeps going with current form attacking the PS in Queensland, you can expect to see a swing away from the LNP here very soon.

Simple.  Ban everyone using a proxy.

A bit too simple, as people legitimately use proxies as part of their online protocol to protect their identity, so innocents would be excluded with the guilty.

The voices in your head might be telling you that because no one else is.

Even the head of NewsPOll warned that such a rise is fairly typical of times like during the Olympics where people's minds go off politics. The real test is if she can hold this figure in a months time. And in case anyone forgets (and you all do, so it seems), we have seen these kinds of rises before only to see them evaporate and head south of 30% again. It may be a false dawn and given that Abbott is still preferred PM and the Libs maintain a massive margin, there is nothing to be excited about.

Anyone with the ability to remember polls in the past wil ahve seen it all before - all to no avail in the end. Why do so many of you have the memory of a goldfish?

That type of reaction will be repeated as these right wing governments continue to remind people what Liberal Parties deliver, and so I think the longer it is before the Federal Election, the less people will fall at Abbotts feet, despite the best efforts of the media to portray Labor as an unsupportable option. I still think he will win easily, but not QLD style, because down south we do not have the same lemming mentality going.

Perhaps these Liberal governments want to try something completely unknown in labor circles - living with your means. All of these Liberal govts are faced with truly massive debt problems and unlike Labor, takes these things seriously. What I find amazing is if you try and engage a labor supporter into the 'balanced budget' debate, all they do is run and hide or refer to Howard. How about a little reality and facing up to the truth of proper balanced budgets. Or would you rather massive increases in taxes?

I agree with Gist, it is the sox that try to dictate a thread by using their multi IDS that piss me off.
