1939. Hottest day ever recorded in Sydney. 45.3 degrees.

Must have been all those pesky CO2 producing cars and factories.

We are a throw away society in every way now and the 'i want it now'.

Doomsday cultists throw away old inconvenient temperatures and they want co2 mitigation now, regardless of how much their science resembles pseudo science.

Whilst it is probable that remote areas of the Australian desert have seen extreme temperatures that have gone unrecorded, the outback Queensland town of Cloncurry originally held the record for the highest known temperature in the shade, at 53.1 °C (127.5 °F) on 16 January 1889. Cloncurry is a small town in northwest Queensland, Australia, about 770km west of Townsville.

The Cloncurry record was later removed from Australian records because it was measured using unsuitable equipment (that is, not in a Stevenson screen, which only became widespread in Australian usage after about 1910). According to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, the current heat record is held by Oodnadatta, South Australia, 50.7 degrees Celsius, occurring on 2 January 1960.

The world heat record for consecutive days goes to Marble Bar in Western Australia, which recorded maximum temperatures equaling or over 37.8°C on 161 consecutive days, between 30 October 1923 and 7 April 1924.

Stop posting things which may suggest climate change isn't what we all say it is!!!!!!

Now go invest in renewables technology and then go out and create scare stories about the climate and the need to use renewable energy.

Just like all the senior climate change scientists have done.

Stacking the deck anyone?

Wow you must be studying..global warming has been happening since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution when we began digging up massive amounts of stored carbon and burning it like there was no tomorrow along with slashing and burning the worlds forests..Good on ya you're finally beginning to understand the basics behind the science so now you wont be surprised when those records are broken more frequently.

Did you know Mars has warmed by exactly the same comparitive rate as Earth and there is still not a clearly defined answer as to why?

Pluto which is moving away from the Sun has warmed up in the last 100 years.

Uranus has undergone significant temperature change as well.

How does this squeeze into the narrow thinking that its not natural change?

There's "no doubt" according to IPCC Chairman?  Yes it's been hot therefore its AGW........very scientific  ::)

Had there been an IPCC in 1939 they would have come to the same scientific conclusion..... ;)....no doubt... ;)

Quote:
SARAH CLARKE: The most recent World Bank report and an assessment by the Global Carbon Project has indicated that the way we're going, we're on track for a four to six degree temperature rise by the turn of the century. Is that the case?

RAJENDRA PACHAURI: It would be anywhere from 1.1 degrees Celsius to 6.4 degree Celsius. Now this depends on the kind of economic growth you get, a whole lot of other drivers that would essentially lead to climate change
.

Interesting....so it's now climate change policy to restrict economic growth as well.  Very eco-socialist of Rajendra Pachauri..... :o

Don't listen to them, KJT1981. Ignore them completely. Matty will return in 2013, and his return will be thunderous. Mr Abbott will be in power, so we'll wipe the grins off these leftards faces.

Phallic Baldwin's back, by the way. Do you know him? I don't know what's happened to Shane B, and Lynn hasn't been around since she had the tumour removed.

Don't listen to Juliar. She's all hot air. I have no idea what Matty saw in her.

See you tonight sweetheart. Remember you booked me for two hours.

Don't know why as 7 minutes seems to be all you can make. But hey I will take your money darling. Don't forget, take the Viagra 20 minutes before I arrive. You could also use a penis pump. I have one that I take when I see impotent clients. Gee, I hope I didn't let the cat out of the bag Peter.

One more thing, best not to take the psychotic drugs with Viagra. I have seen what that does and it isn't pretty.

And another one more thing, please remember to shower this time as the depends do leave a nasty aroma around you nether region.

See you at 8-30.

Hottest day ever recorded in Australia as temperature tops 47.7 C

Strewth! Things were seriously heating up Down Under yesterday when the hottest ever average maximum national temperature was recorded - with even more scorching weather on the way.
Monday's heat soared about the previous record of 40.33 C, a record set way back in 1972.

"We had the hottest day on record for Australia and today it looks like we may well go better again" said Dr David Jones of Australia's Bureau of Meteorology told AAP.

"This really puts the national dimension of this heat event into bigger context."

"In records going way back to the start of 1911, yesterday - with an average temperature of 40.33 - is Australia's new hottest day on record."

Warburton in the Northern Territory recorded the highest temperature yesterday with a baking 47.2 C.

In Tasmania, Hobart recorded their hottest day for 120 years on Friday, 41.8 degrees centigrade, as bush fires raged across the island.

In a visit to Tasmania yesterday, Prime Minister Julia Gillard said "I've come to Tasmania today for one purpose. That's to say to the people of Tasmania that the nation is standing with them at this very, very difficult time".

Elsewhere, in New South Wales fire fighters have been struggling to contain "the worst fire situations in Australia history." according to the International Business Times.

A few INDISPUTABLE, UNDENIABLE FACTS

■The hottest average maximum temperature ever recorded across Australia – 40.33 degrees, was set on Monday,  January 7, 2013 - surpassing the old record of 40.17 °C set in 1976. (Bureau of Meteorology)

■The number of consecutive days where the national average maximum daily temperature exceeded 39°C has also been broken this week—seven (7) days (between 2–8 January 2013), almost doubling the previous record of four (4) consecutive days in 1973, (BOM)

■According to the National Climate Data Centre, nine of the 10 hottest years on record have been since 2000 (the other is 1998).

■While temperatures vary on a local and regional scale, globally it has now been 27 years since the world experienced a month that was colder than average. "If you’re 27 or younger, you’ve never experienced a colder-than-average month" - Philip Bump, Grist, November 16, 2012.

■The CSIRO has found Australian annual average daily maximum temperatures have steadily increased in the last hundred years, with most of the warming trend occurring since 1970.

■The Bushfire CRC (Cooperative Research Centre) says large areas of southern Australia, from the east coast to the west coast, face “above average fire potential” in the summer of 2012-13. According to the Climate Institute extreme fire danger days are expected to rise more than 15 per cent in south-eastern Australia.

■The last four months of 2012 - globally - were the hottest on record. (British Met Office) and 2012 was the hottest year the continental United States of America has ever recorded.("2012 Was the Hottest Year in U.S. History. And Yes - It's Climate Change", Bryan Walsh, TIME 8 January, 2013).

■The hot-dry trend is expected to continue, with the Climate Commission predicting large increases in the number of days over 35°C this century.

■Around the world, 2013 could be the hottest ever recorded by modern instrumentation, according to a recent study by Britain’s Met Office. If that turns out to be accurate, 2013 would surpass the previous record, held jointly by 2005 and 2010.
