MUMBAI (AFP) - Three sisters aged between six and 11 were raped and murdered before their bodies were dumped down a village well in rural western India, police said on Wednesday.

The bodies of the three schoolgirls were found last week, two days after they went missing on February 14 from their home in the Bhandara district of Maharashtra state, police superintendent Aarti Singh told AFP.

"The bodies of the three young girls were found in a well, with their schoolbags and footwear," Singh told AFP by phone from Nagpur, adding they were aged six, nine and 11.

"The post-mortem has confirmed that the girls were raped and then murdered."

No arrests have been made but Singh said four people had been detained for questioning and investigations were still under way.

Family members said the girls had gone out to look for their mother who was out of the house and no one heard from them again.

The incident led to protests by villagers, Singh said, echoing angry rallies in the capital New Delhi after the brutal gang-rape and murder of a 23-year-old student on a bus in December

It's interesting this sort of thing is making headlines more often now. This barbarism is common place in the countryside of non-Western countries. It's not a new phenomenon, it's just being reported more.

Eastern Turkey has regular barbarism, but we hear little of it. The latest trend there for adulterous young women is to make them suicide so it looks like a suicide rather than an honour killing.
Men also regularly kill their wives for leaving them there.

The inner city trendy here has no idea what real traditionalism is. They think a bunch of conservatives disagreeing with Islam is racist and bigoted. Yet are blind to the strong conservativism in the non-West.

India has a much higher rate of omegas who are likely to resort to this kind of thing than other places.  Go to india with an attractive girl, and you won't believe the reaction - they literally just stand there, gawking, with their tongues han ging out and their hand on their dicks.  And it's not just 1 or 2 either - it's everyone!  It really must be seen to be believed.

My view is that the media often latch onto the latest trendy issue and then search hard for repeat cases of the said issue. This way it looks like a "crisis." This issue will fade out of the media in time, just like every other issue it fetishizes for a while.

I don't understand how I missed this Thread.   I've been there a few times with what I consider to be an attractive female.....and you are talking utter sh1t.

Indian police say they have detained and are questioning more than a dozen people in relation to the gang-rape of a Swiss tourist.

The woman and her husband were camping during a trip in Madhya Pradesh state when they were attacked by a group of up to eight men.

Police say the pair had set up camp in a small village when the men attacked, robbed and then raped the woman in front of her husband.

"[They] tied up the man and raped the woman in his presence," local police official SM Afzal said. About 10,000 rupees ($177) and a mobile phone was stolen, he added.

The 40-year-old woman was taken to hospital, but has since been released and has spoken to authorities.

The couple were on their way to the tourist destination of Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal monument, in northern India.

The Swiss ministry said its diplomats in India were in contact with local authorities and it hoped the attackers would be "swiftly identified and would appear before a court to answer for their actions".

"We are deeply shocked by this tragic incident suffered by a Swiss citizen and her partner in India," the Swiss foreign ministry in Bern said in a statement.

In 2003, a 36-year-old female Swiss diplomat was abducted in the car park of a popular New Delhi auditorium, driven away by two men and raped.

3 children went missing in Adelaide in 1966... the Beaumont children...one brother two sisters.

we have had many headlines over the years...

one can only guess what happened to them I am afraid.
