Title: Victorian economy gone into recession under libbos
Post by thelastnail on Mar 6th, 2013 at 2:39pm
Just heard on the radio. Two quarters of negative growth and 6.1 % unemployment !!

Perhaps a taste of things to come under a Federal liberal government  :(

I would think Victoria's economic position would relate more to its being a manufacturing state, the almost total absence of any mining apart from a bit of brown coal and the strength of the dollar, rather than whatever colour of govt they have.

half the problem is the previous labor government spending like a drunken sailor with money it didn't have. This could be a forerunner to what we can expect under a Federal Liberal government. Unfortunately who ever gets the poison challis won't be winning many friends :(

only half? It wasn't labor that ran them into recession ... it was a lib govt & they've been in long enough to affect change .. it's a pity that the only changes they've affected have seen the economy get worse ... perhaps it's time to start looking at the current govt and stop the usual cries of 'it was labors spending' ?

1.6 billion on a ticketing fiasco that still doesn't work properly !! Someone should be in jail for squandering that amount of money for something that is not worth more than 100 million at the most :(

we need more Royals into mismanagement in our State govts... look at NSW.. look at ICAC and that is just one minister.... like you say about Vic waste of money NSW was the same.. huge amounts went on things that never happened...yet its all put in the too hard basket and no one is ever made accountable..

ok they lose govt but does that pay the bills... no it doesnt

I am sick of the waste and just plain bad management..

I can forgive someone like Slipper rorting his travel... [as long as he pays it back].. I could even forgive THOMO... well maybe not.. but as yet he hasnt been charged with mismanaging Fed issues..

but when its just blatant plundering...they should be locked up...billions they all cost us one way or another..

and off they go with their big fat pensions..not a worry in the world.usually some big fat directorship waiting for them..

whats bloody fair about that?

most times when govt's try to do something like that it ends up a fiasco .... when you worry more about red tape than you do the real world, things end up all screwed up ... thats the beast that is government. It's still better they try to do something, and bugger it up, and fix it,  than just do nothing at all .....

The Hellrats have had their snouts in the public purse and sent us unto debt that Victorians will be paying off for generations and they are still after more...Ted the Toff understood this and had the decency to try and not make it any worse on working class Victorians who are asked to pay a bill they themselves will never profit from...And you want the Greens or ALP back  in this state building more desal plants and wind farms on our tab?

For the last two years and three months the late Edward Norman Baillieu had let us know that EVERYTHING that was wrong with Victoria was caused by the Bracks and Brumby Governments

Today, the new/old Premier Naphthalene let us know that everything that WILL be wrong with Victoria - over the next year and nine months - will have been caused by the Rudd and Gillard Governments

You and nail just can't wait to tie the knot.

Regarding the topic, blaming any state government for the state going into recession is a waste of time. Under labor, greens, anyone, it would be the same result (as I believe SA, ACT, Tas are all in the same situation). However, this thread is not a complete waste. Instead, it is a perfect example of the mentality of today's selfish and clueless generation;

Don't go into a shop and buy something manufactured in Australia. Instead, go online and buy a cheap item made overseas and then cheer every time an Australian business goes under. Once finished cheering over the closer of yet another Australian business, go online and complain that the state is in recession.

Mental as bugger I tells ya.

Also - I am not now nor have I ever been a homosexual.

Remember - Bob the homo Brown is not running the Greens anymore -
so you can't use that excuse to say "I won't vote Green".

Also again - you know that it's greedy landlords that have closed
down the retail businesses here not the internet.
Don't be so dishonest about your opponents arguments.

Quantum - arguing with you is like shooting fish in a barrel.

So what's made in australia these days ?

And regarding buying online I recently rang up a local mob to buy a certain item for which they were the so called distributor. Yep they said I had to buy it from their resellers but their resellers didn't stock the item and would have to order it in. The usual BS story :(

So i hop online and find out the street price in the US was half the price here in australia. Go figure !! Not only that even after the postage it was still cheaper than buying it here. Needless to say I didn't waste another second and ordered online !!
