Title: Why bother passing the Media Bill? Post by Maqqa on Mar 19th, 2013 at 11:13pm
Why are the ALP, Independents and Greens bothered with this?
In 6 months - the LIBs will repeal it the same way it will repeal the carbon tax |

i plan to vote liberal in part so the media can be free and yes, even free to be biased because bias isn't a crime against humanity. Censorship however, is. |

about time Wilkie said no. Gillard has shafted him multiple times and it is about time he returned the favour. |

Dnarever historically the Liberals have been caned every inch that this dickheaded Labor Party are now.
If a Government is plain bloody useless it deserves all the flack it gets. Incidentally when I vehemently disagreed with John Howard at one stage of his Prime Ministership I gave it to him big time. I don't discriminate when it comes to deserved bad press. This Media Legislation was and is a dog's breakfast...It has been deep sixed, which is exactly what it deserved. |

Why am I not surprised that you fellas would support Rupert Murdochs total dominance of the media in this country.
And its kinda no surprise to see the Coalition genuflecting at the feet of Rupert because he has the power to make or break political parties in Australia, the UK and the US with just a wave of his hand. One word comes to mind...Lickspittles |

Nothing atheists say is of merit as its basis is lies and selfish malice... :)

Murdoch would love Russia where he could have control over everything and use his power to destroy all rivals...its a perfect system for good old Rupert. |

no one is stopping you from starting a media company. if murdoch has a dominance it is because your fellow-travellers dont have the courage of THEIR convictions. They are weak and cowardly and will always be ruled over by the strong. its all YOUR fault if you dont like it. |

GOVERNMENTS are not entitled to bias as they represent EVERYONE. private people and private industry is entitled to all the bias they want since they pay for it. Im not saying the media is biased but rather that they are perfectly entitled to be and after Juliar's truly idiotic attempts at censorship now have full justification for doing so. |

Until it all ends in tears for you. The media can say anything they like about you being a wanker for instance, now even though that's true they would be required to retract that if you had a bitch about it. Problem is, by then everyone knows/ thinks you're a wanker anyway and the retraction is on page 95 underneath the budgies for sale classifieds. |

even free to be biased Media bias is terrible but somewhat acceptable. What we have seen the last 4 years is well past what anyone could consider to be a bias. The legislation is hardly even a slap on the wrist and is in no way censorship. |

People spend millions of $ to get the media to perform in the same manner, its called advertising and it works. |

so ? A tv station that is govt. funded is not the govt. Just like thousands of other organisations that are govt. funded are not the govt. ABC has had more than it's fair share of stories to highlight inadequacies in labor policy over the last 5 yrs ... you really thing if labor had editorial control they would allow that? you're dumber than dog sh it if you believe that. |

pretty much no one outside the labor party thinks there has even BEEN bias never mind the extent you think. The problem has always been that this govt has been riddled with scandal and so incompetent that there is rarely and good positive news to report. unbiased reporting would still say that this govt sucks. |

For the simple reason that is beyond your leftist-screwed head-- Murdock finances his newspapers while the ABC is funded by all taxpayers and therefore is obliged to be unbiased. That is why many workers have given up on the unions, the sensible voices were not being heard. By the way, how many businesses are closed because of union demands? How does that help a family man with a mortgage? |
