Yesterday was a farce, an absolute farce, and a waste of everyone's time. When I heard that there would be a ballot for the leadership of the ALP, I was sure that Rudd was about to become PM again, and breathed a sigh of relief, because Labor has no chance of winning the election as long as they keep Gillard as their leader. The vote seems to hover around a miserable 32%, and any honest Labor supporter should see that, with less than 6 months to go before the election, the situation is terminal. Labor should have changed leaders last year, and now it's looking more and more likely that they are prepare to go  to the election with Gillard, and face inevitable destruction. It's almost as though they are trying to hand the lodge to Tony Abbott on a silver platter.

this is not news to anyone. we could all see that Gillard was prepared to sacrifice her entire caucus and perhaps the future of the ALP to remain PM just a bit longer. if you really want to help, then petition your local labor MP to vote against her and get an election under way asap. the next election is unwinnable for the ALP but the margin can still be improved. at the current trajectory labor could lose 40+ seats.

Trying to unseat a Government elected by the people and encourage MPs to treason against the job they were elected to do by their consituents is a Satanic thing to do... >:(

You may be right, but if they can lose 40 seats they can also win 40 seats in the election after. Anyone that thinks that after three years of an Abbott government they could hold any sort of large majority is as deluded as Gillard is to think she can win in September. Unfortunately we are in a period of having the worst possible leadership prospects this country has ever seen. It would not surprise me in the least if the coalition have exactly the same problems when they realise Abbott has no leadership qualities what so ever, he is the best attack dog in parliament, doesn't make him a good leader. When he is in the position of making the decisions it will all end in tears.

if they lose 40 seats they will lose almost their entire leadership or senior members. That is why it takes so long to recover from landslides. the first election after is simply about getting a few more bums in the place so they can get experience to form govt a couple of elections later.

Yesterday was about keeping another boat off the front page, keeping failed media laws off the front page, Killing support for Rudd while giving Crean a better face with votes for his performance of a patsy.

Prepare for a long deep recession from early next year

I've been getting the opposite impression, namely -- Libs don't want to win.  And why would they.  They'll inherit a mountain of debt -- as usual.  They'll build up a surplus via putting us through a miserable decade.  Then the idiots will vote Labor back and round and round we go again

Surely this nation deserves a few additional and viable parties to break this Coles vs Woolies political stranglehold

basic statistics denies the existence of genuine third parties that can rule without being in a coalition of probably disparate ideologies. Stability is sometimes the obverse of wide choice.

after all, we're being run out of USrael anyway, and paying these jokes as well --- until they fall of the damn perch.  Ever notice how long the toads live when they're attached to the public teat?  Fraser's still breathing, for pete's sakes.  They won't die

So privatise government.  Put it to tender.  Maybe China or Russia could enter the lowest bid.  Better they than the Saudis who seem to have more say than either of these loser, Woolies-Coles pretend-parties we've suffered for the last umpteen decades
