Title: Garrett misleading parliament
Post by Armchair_Politician on Apr 4th, 2013 at 7:13am
Garrett is using very old data to justify massive and unaffordable spending increases. More of the same Labor incompetence and lies. Garrett has been a disgrace as a Minister, first with the pink batts deaths and now trashing one of the most important portfolios - education...

Increasing funding is a good thing, why not just do it instead of trying this kind of approach?

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

They're neither 'massive' nor 'unaffordable'.

And the pink-batts lie has just about been done to death. Get over it.

Couldnt agree more, Kat. After being responsible for more than a thousand deaths on the boats, why would this government bother about wasting more young lives?

and given the mess in education and health thanks to the lying rodent I'd bet the literacy levels have either slumped or have had very little change.

Billions of dollars is massive and it is also unaffordable for this government, since they are up to their eyeballs in debt. As for the pink batts, tell that to the parents of the young men who died because of Garrett's inability to administer what should've been a simple and straightforward stimulus scheme.

Garrett has access to the data yet he couldn't find anything to condemn the LIBs

I always thought that it was Kevins hand behind the burning roofs and burning Australians debacle in the Roof Insulation Revolution (Kevin being Prime Minister of Micro Managing), but maybe it was the direct Ministers influence only after all, and who was that Minister again?

Without wanting to rehash an old thread, i never understood the amount of direct blame the government received for dodgy work practices of some of the installers.

Even the young guy who dehydrated in hot conditions and died was blamed on the Government.

I don't think its wise for you to comment on others literacy and comprehension skills.  One only needs to remind you of your lack of understanding regarding profits, migration act, refugee convention, etc etc etc

The issue to me was that numerous warnings had been presented to the Minister, it was the inaction which deserves the scrutiny. It was a Government sponsored package, so even though the individual work practices do come into question, there is a direct line of responsibility.
But you are right, another topic for another day - I was drawing attention to the common link only.

Mr Garrett said today that the statistics had been provided by the Education Department and he expected them to be correct"

"They brought through a report to me and I always take what the department brings forward and reflect it," he told reporters.

"...Clearly that is something they should  not have done, there is no question about it ... "

Of note - the WORST figures the Education Department could find to pass on to Garrett's office were from the HOWARD era

Speaking on ABC's Lateline on February 25, Mr Garrett said:

"Mr Garrett made the same claim in an interview on SkyNews the same day.

In the true conservative tradition of we have no idea - misleading Parliament - which one on Sky News or the ABC - Ho Ho Ho.

Macca said it was a home goal - he was right it was. You guys have no credibility and no idea.

Got the title wrong again I see - well no surprise there.

So is MEDICARE
Should bulk billed malpractice make the Health Minister to blame ?

This is pink batts, school halls, etc all over again. Labor just can't get it right when there's billions of dollars of our money at stake.

It's astounding that ANYONE is still swallowing this Murcoch TOSH

The Home Insulation Scheme - besides reducing energy bills and cutting carbon emissions - has CUT workplace injuries, workplace fatalities and related house fires by roughly 80%ALL due to a FIRST EVER safety standards code and licencing introduced to coincide with the scheme

The four related workplace deaths ( ... ALL of which were through employers acting ILLEGALLY) was STATISTICALLY a "good figure" - MANY more workers dying on smaller projects in our history
But you'll NEVER get ANY politician to say that to the electorate, a mother or father

Australia's BIGGEST EVER nation building project - the BER - was found to have delivered 98.5% value for money by an independent, non-government panel of auditors
The *HUNDRED odd projects that DIDN'T ( ... far more than the dozen or so misleading exploited by The Australian) may sound a lot, but is a PITTANCE in relation to the 8000 plus that DID and continue to DO

*( ... almost HALF of these were DIRECTLY managed by the NSW Education Dept - NOT the Rudd Government)

BOTH schemes have gained international praise as major components of the Rudd/Swan GFC stimulus packages that delivered the A1 economy we have in 2013 - and an unemployment rate HALF that of the rest of the world
