Title: 'We're sick of fat people whingeing' - love it
Post by Sprintcyclist on Apr 9th, 2013 at 11:23pm

Quote:
............“We’re sick of fat people complaining and moaning about their weight, like they are victims. There is a small proportion of obese people who genuinely need help. The problem is the other group of people who are fat and lazy; who just take advantage of all the help that is out there because they think they deserve it,” said Julius.

“Twenty years ago it was mean to point out the one fat kid in the class, because he or she genuinely had a problem. But now, 80 to 90 per cent of us are overweight if not obese and it’s become un-PC to say anything about that.”

Julius believes there is now even a backlash against fit people. So instead of fat people being made to feel awkward, he says that fit people are often made to feel bad about making their health a priority.

“Bad health is one of the worst things you can have, probably our most poignant problem in the world today,” Julius says. “That said, having a drug addiction and poor financial health are probably just as bad.

“Fit people can be influenced by the people around them. As they steadily choose to live a healthy life they can become side-tracked by the people closest to them, like their husband or wife. We give them advice and tips to help them keep going on the healthy path. Hopefully this will widen the gap so that they’ll eventually inspire other people around them to live healthily too,” said Julius.

Athletes and CEOS make up the bulk of the couple’s clientele and both present unique training challenges.

“Fit people aren’t all size eight, they come in all shapes and sizes. Fit people come in all shapes and sizes; it’s about the part of the brain that they allow themselves to rely on. The’ fit’ part of the brain that encourages exercise and healthy eating and the ‘fat’ brain which is lazy and tells you not to bother,” said Sharny.

Time is the biggest constraint for people in high-powered positions.

“It’s common for CEOS that we train to be time poor, but we teach them how to be entrepreunial about their fitness. Instead of taking an hour out of your day, and conserving your energy throughout the hour, we encourage them to use intensity. Fifteen or twenty minute sessions where they are working at their peak,” said Julius.

The couple also focuses on reminding their clients that it’s not selfish to focus on making health and exercise a priority.

“When people are time poor they can feel guilty about taking time out from family to exercise, but the truth is if you don’t look after yourself, you cannot look after anyone else,” said Julius. ......................

Its a tough call. Do they also have a problem that needs fixing, but if you go along with the article, then you could also ask what else has worked better than in the past. Might be cruel, but is it better?

People with a drinking problem don't serve drinks behind a bar or eventually get refused to be served.

Why do we have fat people serving in food outlets or not being refused entry to 'all you can eat' ?

I'm sure people in the Med Industry just love moving these people around for some bad back situations.

It is NOT genetic, its not because of a gene.
No addiction really is.
Do people wake up every 30 minutes to light up a cigarette?

"Too much of a good thing, can be bad for you."

Seriously - its not like kids are responsible. Telling them they are gross etc is bullying. Go tell their parents but leave them alone.

For one thing because some kid @ the door would be making the decision of who is fat and who is not. A lot if idiots seem to think that normal is fat because it isnt skinny.

Oh god, what's coming up next? This country is so over-regulated.  We can't drink in non designated places. If we sit on the bow of a boat in Sydney harbour, the Sydney water police will issue a fine or a warning. Even sitting on top of a cliff will result in police directives to move.  What the heck? This is common practice. Since when did the police become the "safety police"?

There is a hill in SE Queensland (Glasshouse Mountains)  where the path is fenced off because it's considered too dangerous for people to climb. The next thing will be a licence to climb mountains, or a licence to bushwalk or to go snorkelling. Just think of all these dangerous snakes or sharks - you are putting yourself in danger and therefore are a public menace. Shades of 1984. You must conform.

We need to be able to put ourselves in danger and challenge ourselves to do better. One or two of us may actually die as a result of that, but it's for the good of our species.

What is really dangerous is removing that personal choice.

Fat people don't really harm anybody else but themselves, and it takes months of effort to go from fat to slim. Somebody who is obese might have been on a rigorous diet and exercise program for the last 3 months. All it takes to discourage them is this kind of crap.

I'm off the original topic a bit, but you'll never prevent people from whingeing. (that was my whinge, but I'm not fat). For what it's worth, I agree that fit people are regarded as somehow abnormal by certain overweight people.

Well to be fair, there is a smoking tax, so maybe there should be a fat tax due to the extra cost to society (hurting the tax payer).

I would be more than happy to get rid of the smokers tax in order for fairness.

You said it MUSO,
"We need to put ourselves in danger..."
The lack of adversity in this nation sends us numb.

Bullying? Teasing? They are constructive adversity.
I had over x100 fights in Mt Druitt before I even got to High School at St Marys, then it was the mental abuse by the 'in' Gays of 'over-achievement'.
I never cried 'foul', I just played to the whistle.
Even when I knew I would lose the fight, the fact is that I made it a bloody good fight and showed people how much I can 'endure'. And I was a Passive person too.

So if a kid is fat, gay, redneck, yobbo, wanker, speaks poorly, can't draw, can't swim, can't afford a suitcase, etc, etc, etc, - then he is bullied and teased for a very good reason = they don't want help from the people around them or can't accept that they have a problem.
Thus - two lessons the kid learns early, or later in life.
Alas, wisdom is not taught in schools, which are 'intelligence' based, let alone because of a lack of (older?) wise teachers as role models.

The kids who accepted their problem: eg FAT, were never teased or bullied. They were left alone, supported (even in Mt Druitt) by other kids and even cheered 'against the odds'.

So come later in life, when people are 'Adults' - I'm sure some 'restrictions' like people being banned from serving food as Fatso's is no different to people being asked not to use mobile phones in certain areas.
Social ettiquette and societies way of saying 'Shape Up' (for those who can't see it themselves')
...or maybe they need to have it punched into them as if they were a computer? :-?

Accepting obesity as normal and making the healthy feel guilty is consistent with the postmodern trend of trying to lift the marginalised into a position of normalcy. It's the postmodern project to create a harmonious, unified, and tolerant society.

I'm not sure if there's a backlash, but it seems as though fat people are being taken as the norm - especially the young.

Wherever you go there are men and women proudly showing off their girth with super tight and revealing clothes. There used to be shame if you could pinch an inch of skin around your stomach and fat people were quite rare.

Sugar is the main cause of obesity. Perhaps the government needs to start monitoring sugar the way they have with cigarettes. Imposing a huge tax on sugar could save a lot of lives.

mantra,

No.

That sort of 'social engineering', is what is wrong with our society.

We are not prepared tend to refuse to accept the consequences of our own choices, being 'sheeted home' to ourselves.

Instead, we have come to expect someone else to continually 'rescue' us, from the consequences of our poor choices.

That is wrong!

How are we to ever learn anything useful in life, if we are never allowed to make mistakes [mistakes which actually cost us something] ???

???

Let the obese die of heart disease!

And let others take note of that CONSEQUENCE, of obesity.

Too harsh ?

That is a better 'outcome', than preventing me and others in society, from,
...........having access to a 'dangerous' substance like sugar !!!!?

mantra,

If you want all of your choices made for yuo, people such as yourself should [seriously] go and live in North Korea, or, Saudi Arabia, or, Iran, or, Somalia.

The regimes in those places want to run your life for you!

Yadda I was being a bit cynical and should have put a smiley face after my words.

Of course we're responsible for our own health, but the government ultimately does control our lives. All governments love taxes and a sugar tax would be more lucrative than a tobacco tax and probably more helpful in reducing health care costs.

tax sugar. also we should have a youth organisation that is mandatory for all kids to go on summer holidays where they are forced to play sports, learn survival skills, archery, etc. to crack down on obesity. obesity is a blight onto this earth and telling people to rely on their 'responsibility' isnt working. we dont have a disciplined population capable of self regualation, and it is very possible that we have been operating on a false food health paradigm that equates saturated fats as the cause of obesity and carbs as benign. if so, it is not surprising why obesity is out of control - if our very nutritional knowledge paradigm is wrong in the first place. fat needs to be stamped out by force.

Kangaroo meat being FAT FREE practically. Well its in the top 10 of quality (healthy) meats (including taste) in the world. Beef and Lamb don't make the cut at all.  :P Get that up ya Sam Kechovich.
