Title: Some famous quotes
Post by the wise one on Apr 11th, 2013 at 7:31am
Famous quotes:

I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.” — Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943.

• “I have travelled the length and breadth of this country and talked with the best people, and I can assure you that data processing is a fad that won’t last out the year.” — The editor in charge of business books for Prentice Hall, 1957.

• “But what…is it good for?” — Engineer at the Advanced Computing Systems Division of IBM, 1968, commenting on the microchip.

• “There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home.” — Ken Olson, president, chairman and founder of Digital Equipment Corp., 1977.

• “640K ought to be enough for anybody.” — Bill Gates, 1981.

• “This ‘telephone’ has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us.” — Western Union internal memo, 1876.

• “The Americans have need of the telephone, but we do not. We have plenty of messenger boys.” — Sir William Preece, chief engineer of the British Post Office, 1876.

• “While theoretically and technically television may be feasible, commercially and financially it is an impossibility.” — Lee DeForest, inventor.

And now,

THERE WILL BE NO CARBON TAX UNDER A GOVT I LEAD... gillard 2010.

THE NBN WILL COST $4.5BN.
rudd & Co 2009.

can we assume the NBN is half way to being completed?? as they also claimed it would take 8 years to finish.

come on COds, at least pretend to be fair ... the original version at $4.5B is a different plan totally. It was decided it wouldn't work and was scrapped.nNow get back to your knitting.

"Everything that can be invented has been invented. "

Charles H. Duell, Commissioner, U.S. patent office, 1899 (attributed)

Apparently not a correct quote. But a good one

Once. And once only.

SHOW me where I've criticised. Go on.

I made ONE BLOODY COMMENT! which 'attacked' NO-BLOODY-ONE!

And I NEED NO LINK because I did NOT REFER TO AN ARTICLE.

That's the second time today that you've attacked me with NO GROUNDS WHATSOEVER.

CHRIST, but you're obtuse.

and you are a whinge master... so you make grand remarks that refer in all to about 3 posters  on here and you think because you dont mention names that makes you Saint bloody kat...

what a whinger when you comment on here about remarks made or not made on a thread you are commenting on the posters... god even you should understand that..

at least I have guts enough to point the finger at those I am referring too.. not the cowards way you choose..

What quotes?  I'm agreeing with the op that a conservative view is generally always wrong, and one is usually quite poor at predicting a future. Hence why the usual "what do we need it for" arguments, ESPECIALLY with technology, coming from conservatives are nothing more than the usual hot air.

Cods, you poor sod, didn't you understand that?
