Amphlett, 53, lived in New York with her husband, former Divinyls drummer Charley Drayton.

I still enjoy her music she was a complete artist and highly respected Australian.

I watched her on RockQuiz and when she came out she got a standing ovation which sent her to tears.

I don't think she fully understood the impact she had on many peoples lives.

The dying wish of the Divinyls frontwoman Chrissy Amphlett may come true.

Cancer groups and the Health Minister are backing the late singer's call for one of her favourite tunes to be used to promote breast cancer awareness.
It was the Divinyls biggest hit, and it was a song that would also touch countless fans.


But for Ms Amphlett, it was a song she wanted used for so much more.
"You know I really wish now that I Touch Myself, it's so appropriate now more than ever. You know, it really should be the breast cancer song," she told Seven's Sunday Night last year.

The 53-year-old rock great wanted the single to become an anthem for women's health.


Her family reveals it was her dying wish to help save lives.
"Chrissy expressed hope that her worldwide hit "I Touch Myself" would remind women to perform breast examinations," her cousin Little Pattie told 7News

As a campaign theme, cancer organisations say the song could prove priceless.

"Oh definitely, we would definitely find a use for it," the New South Wales Council Council's Gill Batt said.

"I think that song could well become an anthem, and that could be her legacy, I think that would be a perfect legacy for her."
There will be rights issues to overcome, but already the Federal Government is on side.


"I think it's a fantastic idea, because we know that the best way to pick up cancer is for women to be doing regular self-examination," Tanya Plibersek said.

And as if to prove Chrissy's popularity, and the potential of any campaign involving her music, overnight a Divinyls 'Best Of' album rocketed to number one in the charts.

Personally, I don't see any need for an apology even though I disagree.
I loved the Divinyls' music as a kid and Chrissie was also the source of many boyhood fantasies. In fact, I think she was still worthy of a fantasy or two right up to the end.
The music still sounds great to me and I'd reckon that she could've done it just as well by herself, such was her presence and charisma.

It's a pity that so many artists often lead seemingly tragic lives, however, it might not be as tragic as it seems.

I don't discount the possibility.  It maybe is sheer co-incidence that Herbert has arrived at about the same time as Matty launched his campaign.  You'd have to concede it would be remarkable for there to be an OzPol scoop concerning any negro loving white pop star druggie without some involvement by the all knowing Matty.  I guess we'll have to wait to see just how close the association is between Matty and Herbert, but early signs indicate they at least know each other very well.  Could be filial.  Let's hope not, hey?
