And if it is the Syrian rebels who have used chem weapons, then nobody wants to know about it.
Why is that so ? Google; carla del ponte report syria Google; US dismisses reports Syrian rebels used chemical weapons Al Qaeda rebels in Syria have been accused of using Sarin gas. But the US and its allies suffer from 'three monkeys' syndrome ??? |

This allegation coming on the back of disturbing reports of FSA units defecting to Al-Nusra in droves. This does not bode well for the post-Assad Syria IMO:

Of course the US is not going to admit the rebels are using CW - if it means retracting their accusation of CW use by Assad.

cods, Why would you imagine that our political leaders [US, Western nations] today, are not now, as much the fools that they were, 10, 20 years ago ? Love of Truth, will protect us, and teach us how to choose. But most men hate truth, when it exposes their own folly. Most men [and women] are not willing to be corrected. They feel that correction is beneath them. Psalms 94:8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise? 9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see? 10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know? 11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity. 12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law; 13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked. |

I'm still puzzled as to why we give a f*ck in the first place. We didn't care when Iraq was using chemical weapons against Iran or Iraq's Kurdish population. Why do we suddenly care now? Oh, right, the same reason why we suddenly gave a sh*t about Iraq's chemical weapons leading up to the 2003 invasion. It was the most politically expedient means of exerting our national interests in the region. |

Syria is an important geo-strategic piece of territory for both Iran and Russia - which for obvious reasons the US would like to dislodge. The truth is though, the US hasn't really been very fussed by the Iranian client state, and the nominal threat it poses for US interests. They will support Syrian rebels, and go through the motions (including the propaganda about chemical weapons), but the reality is they are not going to go out of their way to enforce regime change. Similar situation with Israel - its no secret that Israel and the Assad regime are openly hostile (Syria supplies Hezbollah rockets, and Israel conducts airstrikes inside Syrian territory every now and then), but in many ways the status quo is preferable for Israel than the alternatives - especially (as seems increasingly likely), the Al-Nusra islamists seize control after Assad is overthrown. |
