Title: Odds now firmly favour the Coalition! Post by matty on Aug 9th, 2013 at 10:29am
I am not sure what's happened since last night, but I looked at about 9.00, and Sportsbet had the Coalition at $1.24, and Labor at $4.00. This morning it's $1.21 and $4.50.

Too true, cods. Both parties do their own polling, and things are not going as well for Rudd as he thought they'd be. The masses are not bowing at his feet, as he expected. That's why he called the election for september 7, he was pressured into doing so because his people told him that it would only get worse if he stayed longer, which is what he wanted. He also wouldn't have gone to the extraordinary measure of recruiting Beattie. |

Don't count your chickens people. There's a long way to go.
Rudd could be very dangerous in debates. I don't know why Tony agreed to the Press Club - that's enemy territory. But he's a fearless guy and is playing a very smart, steady as she goes game. |

Abbott fearless? Is that why he avoids any unscripted engagement with the media like the plague?

he merely thought he would minimise labors losses as compared to projected losses under Gillard, which he will do ...he always said it would be difficult to win. I'd say things are going as well as expected ... maybe not as well as hoped, but as well as expected. |

Rudd will crucify Abbott in the debate. Abbott is not quick on his feet when asked unusual questions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyY-xI6zgfk |

Any fair-minded person, but of course that excludes you buzz, would remember what the Press Club dished out to Howard in 2007.
It was like a pack of jackals dividing up their kill. It was openly biased, brazenly one-sided. The worst was that ugly fat tart Karen Middleton and the rest of the jackals were placed around her table like Madame Defarge at the guillotine. So, yes the Press Club might be only a building, but it is a building which houses in the main the children of the revolution. |

My money is still on a 5-10 seat Coalition victory

I don't think debates really mean much. it might be hugely important to us political junkies but outside of that the great unwashed masses of voters care very little and mostly, not at all. |

That's just not true. Someone like a Crean or Ferguson would do that, but not Rudd. It's not in his personality to lead Labor to a noble defeat. Make no mistake. Rudd came back to win the election. |

Rudd is on record as saying to his politicians: We're not here to save the furniture - we're here to win. |
