Title: Some Aussies are stupid
Post by John Smith on Sep 7th, 2013 at 7:25pm
Regardless of if you vote liberal or labor, there is no way James Diaz should be in the running to win his seat but on early counting he looks to do just that ...

what are the people in his electorate thinking? Could they really be so stupid?

yes... he's an embarrassment..

anyone on the political forum would have won that seat whether they be Liberal or Labor supporters...

I would have thought that even if the people turned against labor, they would have at least been smart enough to give it to an independent ... but to give the seat to Diaz .... no other way to describe it other than stupid.

Yes, but most people don't vote for the seat. They vote for the party, or even the leader. You only have to look at the whole "I voted Rudd for PM, not Juilia" a few years ago, when really they voted for their member and not the leader. A vote for the seat is just a vote for the party which is what most people have their eyes on.

It's probably not stupidity but people are distant to the whole thing. How many people said today- oh well, let's get this over and done with.

Stupid was re-opening our borders and wasting billions of dollars on opportunist country shoppers. That's one of the reasons people didn't vote for an independent but Abbort.

Sure. But for most people, today was a vote between Abbott and Rudd. A vote for Diaz is simply a vote for Abbott in their mind. I wouldn't be surprised if most people just look for "liberal" and put a 1. They probably wouldn't even know Diaz's name. It is just the way people vote these days (and being honest, how many people on this forum wouldn't vote for the party over the person? Especially if it happened to be a close election where their party needed every seat they could get).

I'm glad to see now with 80% of the vote counted, that maybe they aren't so stupid after all.

Although it's still close.

The good news is that this professional phukwit will not take up a seat in Canberra. This is his second attempt and I hope it is obvious to his electorate that he hasn't got what it takes. I do feel a bit sorry for him because his lack of knowledge made him a perfect fit for politics.

True Blue

No idea how he got through the selection process, he is like Roxon ... a Deer in headlights.

I thought the Libs would boot him.

I thought he is on target to lose ?

I think 75% of voters vote for the party (no matter what) and 25% take into account the local MP.

That ratio seems higher in QLD but in NSW its possible for an idiot like Diaz or Thomson to win even in a close election.
