Greens retain seat of Melbourne

AUSTRALIAN Greens deputy leader Adam Bandt has retained the lower house seat of Melbourne.

Mr Bandt claimed victory minutes after Labor's candidate Cath Bowtell conceded defeat.

At this stage the senate is looking good, final results not out for a week or two though.

The more variety in the senate, the better for all of us.

I consider this a WIN!!!!!!

I was hoping for a hung parliament in 2007....I voted accordingly and it was a great outcome.

It's the only way to vote when we have a fascist duopoly, people are catching on to this too.

Barnaby Joice just called Clive Palmer 'an insane eccentric'....bwahahahahaha!!!!!

Yes well done Mr Bandt. 'tis a pity his victory doesn't mean much because added to the ALP lower house numbers of about 58 seats will be Bandt's vote giving a combination of 59. The other mob have about 88 seats so it will just swamp the ALP/Green vote.

It proves that voting Greens is not reliant on Lib Lab preferences.

Batman, Melbourne Ports, Grayndler and other Greens possibilities are now rejuvenated amongst Greens supporters.

Libs threw everything and The Greens are still standing.

I see the Greens is now a party of proving you don't need preference
