Typical of a Liberal government if this was Labor the conga line would be screeching like banshees.

Take it easy Skipper. Who was the ALP federal treasurer who forgot to lodge his tax return? He wasn't fined. Politicians and their friends are above the law.

An interesting dilemna here.  As a very senior Public Servant, she has broken one of the APS code of values.  For most of the workers bees it would be a reprimand or a hold back of any performance pay.  Or dismissal if serious enough

Whats your problem?  she pled guilty to a DUI that was barely over the limit after a lifetime of blemish-free driving.

you don't get to read about the dozens of other such cases that occur every day in every court because no one cars that Joe Bloggs got let off.

A .075 reading isn't worth getting worked up over skip.
And the Liberal party does not control how a judge will act eh, as I know you are aware of.
And considering her unblemished 21 year driving history, and her obvious sex appeal means she gets another chance.

The Magistrate in this matter is a screw loose, and this decision ought to be appealed by the ACT Attorney General.  As for what Credlin herself said:

Quote:
Ms Credlin, the wife of Liberal Party director Brian Loughnane, said she was heading back to work.

"I accept there is media attention," she told reporters.

"Justice doesn't have to be done, it has to be seen to be done.
"Now that the matter's resolved, you'll understand I have got no further comment to make."

The actual legal concept is the complete opposite and is expressed, "Not only must Justice be done, it must be seen to have been done."

And this woman has serious influence over the Prime Minister (elect) of Australia.

Blaaaaaady hell!

>:(

What does my relations have to do with the price of XXXX eh?
Given it was a low range offence, none injured, and a 21 year unblemished driving record means the judge should have let her off.
Case closed.

An unblemished driving record is much more than drink driving skip.
And given she asked for this matter to be dealt with in the usual way, demonstrates a willingness to have this matter dealt with openly and transparently.
And your assumption that she has been driving under the influence for 21 years is without foundation.
As is your belief the judge was influenced by the Liberal party in his deliberation.
A 21 year unblemished driving record still counts for something in our court system.

Rubbish.  If she had killed a kid while driving UIL,  that unblemished driving record would not have saved her.  That she did not kill a kid was just good luck, not good driving.

Quote:

This is the sort of ignorance of the facts which really is annoying.  She did not ask for it to be dealt with in the usual way at all.  She asked that it be dealt with after the election, and had it adjourned for that very purpose.

Yes, but not without common sense.

You really are either phucking stupidly ignorant, or a liar.

The incoming Liberal Federal Attorney General, George Brandis gave this woman a personal/professional/character reference which was tendered.  What ACT Magistrate is going to ignore that sort of very overt pressure???

I've got an unblemished driving record going back in excess of 40 years (including about 8 years in my Cabs), and it would not save me from a conviction for UIL in Qld.

The conga line reacts in predictable.   manner.

First, the bring up bad things the other lot have done. Then they minimise their own side's offence.

Then, when all else fails, they become abusive.

I've had a few mates get off with a section 10 in NSW for low range offences. I don't have a problem with the outcome. What concerns me is that she had a right to defer justice because of her political position.
