Title: Who Drinks 'Holy Water'? Post by True Colours on Sep 18th, 2013 at 9:35pm
Holy water in Austria contaminated with faecal matter, say researchers
Holy water at religious shrines and churches in Austria is often contaminated with faecal matter and bacteria, researchers have found, advising the faithful not to drink it, especially in hospital chapels. Scientists at Vienna University medical school's Institute of Hygiene and Applied Immunology came to the conclusion after analysing the water quality at 21 "holy springs" and 18 fonts at churches and chapels at various times of year. Only 14 per cent of the water samples from holy sources showed no faecal contamination, and none of the springs could be recommended as a source of drinking water, the study presented to a conference in Vienna this week found. The springs held not only faecal contamination - likely the result of poor hygiene - but many also had agricultural nitrates and bugs that can cause inflammatory diarrhoea. "We need to warn people against drinking from these sources," microbiologist Alexander Kirschner said in the study... http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-09-18/holy-water-in-austria-contaminated-with-faecal-matter/4966692 |

There is a locally promoted legend that the water in the city of Rome is all blessed by the pope. If you're walking around the city, it's quite safe to drink the water from the free flowing fountains or fontanelle (with SPQR on them) that are to be found all around the city. Rome has such an abundance of clean spring water that they have numerous large fountains, like the Fontana di Trevi.
If you're ever in Rome, don't bother buying a bottle of water. Fill up from a fontanella. ![]() |

It's just a nice legend. Most people say it with a smirk. |

How about, as an 18yo Catholic, banging a 17yo Methodist in the choir loft of the local Presbyterian church sound?
It rang some bells, I can assure you. Admittedly, it was almost 40 years ago - but my questions are: * Should I fear for my eternal existence? * Should I fear beheading - or she fear stoning? Or should it remain a mental snapshot of youthful experience that is unlikely to be repeated in my lifetime? Wholly water? I doubt it. 8-) |

I'd dearly love to be able to watch it, Bobby.
But after moving from Brisbane to a regional area due to work commitments, my 120g download a month allowance @ 1.3mps has dropped to 0 - 34kps @ 4g. :'( Another recommended download missed through inadequate infrastructure. Remember when the computer age was destined to replace the paper usage? NBN? I can't even communicate on this board. And to all you who say Hip-Hip, you can GGF! :D I miss my new-found ability to communicate - even my bills arrive late. |

Are the Muslims contaminating rainwater too, Yadda ? Maybe they are like the Jews in the film Borat? I wonder if they can shape change into pigeons that crap in our water tanks?
There has to be a citation from scripture about that. Philippians 3:8 (amended KJV): Quote:

muso, We know, we KNOW, that moslems poison dogs belonging to persons who are not moslems. We know that moslems have poisoned food [with faeces], that moslems have served, to persons who are not moslems. But, it is a slander against moslems, to suggest that moslems may choose to poison potable water supplies [as an act of moslem warfare], which persons who are not moslems rely upon ? Google; muslim dog poisoning Google; muslim poisoning infidel food, fecal p.s. muso, I do not know if moslems shape change into pigeons, so as to 'crap in our water tanks'. :P All i know is that it is dumb, DUMB, to allow persons who embrace a philosophy which teaches those persons that they must hate us, to live among us, in large numbers. And to allow them to live among us, in large numbers, because those persons tell us, that they do not embrace that [mandatory] aspect of their 'religious' belief. And muso, i have a cheap bridge that i want to sell you too! |

Nah. You can keep the bridge. I know you want to sell it back to me, but I already have one. It's quite cheap too. I'm sure we could do a deal
