Title: Download Limits
Post by Lionel Edriess on Sep 20th, 2013 at 8:01pm
Never used more than my download limit per month.

Though it's cool to have the latest movies - even cam versions. Live TV and almost real-time inter-action on sites such as this.

Sadly, that facility is now denied.

As is my ability, and motivation, to interact.

As a transient internet user, my needs are very poorly catered for. My new laptop has all the bells and whistles - but without an internet connection ( high-speed, low contract}, I'm rooted.

In temporary accommodation, for anything from 2 to 6 months, why should I sign some bullsh+te 'phone contract for what, these days, is almost as essential as a 'phone ?

I already have a 'phone - which I carry.

Why can't I carry my already contracted internet capability?

It's a problem.
One of my friends got a Telstra USB wireless stick.
It cost $40 for only 2 Giga bytes of download & it expires if not used in 2 months..

It's BoolShoot  - that's what it is! That's what I've got!

Took me almost 2 hours to upgrade my anti-virus.

There is no provision, in all my searching, for a no-contract hi-speed internet connection in the remoter areas.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the NBN the answer?

And when will we get it?

It's already too late.

Lionel - we're now way off topic but I'm afraid there is no cheap solution -

the telcos have us all by the balls.

I agree.

Who in their right mind would drink Holy Water, anyway?

Who knows where those fingers have been?

The only thing many of us know is that the NBN is supposed to be faster than wireless, but as it's only in a few areas and unlikely to proceed now that wouldn't be an option.

Comcast is supposed to be the cheapest and will issue short term contracts quickly for about $20 a month - but apparently having it transferred or cut off can be a bit problematic for some people.

Don’t get too despondent.

4K TV is here, will be popular in a couple years—only one way to get the ultra hi def programs—gigabit internet. Fraudband is not going to deliver that, ever. Wireless? You would download 2 minutes of a movie—and blow your data allowance for the month!
