Title: Labor must come clean about carbon tax
Post by Maqqa on Sep 22nd, 2013 at 3:40pm
Neither Shorten or Albo have made their position clear if they will go to the next election with reinstating the carbon tax

About the only thing you've heard so far from Shorten is DentalCare and Domestic violence platform

Carbon is bad, the sooner carbon is banned the better off we'll all be.

They should both be rejected because we know the carbon tax was important enough to sell out the very people who voted for labot (them), then keep it going while calling the voting public extremists for not liking being sold out, to keep that ill gotten power and enough to say liberals are the wrong leaders because liberals want to get rid of the carbon tax.

Yet it doesnt seem important enough to mention it now. Reject them both now. It seems that it isnt important enough to allow it to ruin their internal election chances, but good enough to allow the labor party to be ruined. The worst ruined in 100 years.

As the alternative Government it has a responsibility to provide its stance - either supportive or not - on key policy areas.

Albanese's position is quite clear. He will fight the dismantling of the ETS. I believe Shorten is of a similar mind.

Quote:
Tony Abbott’s pledge to repeal the carbon tax looks set for an acrimonious fight in the new parliament after would-be Labor leader Anthony Albanese said he would defend Labor’s climate change policy.

Quote:
BILL Shorten has publicly declared his candidacy for the Labor leadership as his supporters gear up for a ballot against Anthony Albanese under controversial new party rules that could mean a 30-day delay in selecting the new opposition leader.

Mr Shorten, the outgoing education and workplace relations minister, said he had the passion and commitment for the job and insisted that Labor could win the next election. He signalled that Labor, under his leadership, would not back away from carbon pricing, despite Tony Abbott claiming a mandate to repeal the carbon tax, and would defend the National Broadband Network and key policies such as school funding reform and the national disability insurance scheme. "I want to lead the rebuilding of our movement and to take the fight up to the Coalition in Australian politics," he said.

Abbott was elected without telling anyone how he will pay for his promises or what his real plans are all fully supported by you.

Why would you expect a different standard from Labor 3 years before an election??

I think Labor need to find out if the Liberals are going to be able to remove a carbon price before Labor will need to decide if they will introduce one.

So I take it both of you were highly critical of the Coalition for not releasing key policies until well into the election campaign? I doubt it!

You don't think it would be stupid with a capital "S" to announce the introduction of a carbon price before a leader has been selected, the decision has not been made and while we currently have a carbon price in place with no likelihood of it being removed?

I know it is your duty to support captain rats but really supporting extra stupid does nothing for credibility.

They may have a few days to get their ideas together yet - are you expecting another election real soon ???

No but choose to hammer Labor at every opportunity and extremely often support the conservatives.

I also have no allegiance but most people correctly place my view as far towards the centre as they do you to the right.

There's no reason to believe that Labor policy has changed. There's no need for it to change.

Meanwhile, the Diabolic Abbott doesn't need to find out whether his policy will work. It's belief that counts. All that science stuff is witchcraft.

Lets see what Tony wants to replace the "Polluters Pay" legislation with..
If he's just going to replace it with an unfunded scheme to throw taxpayers money at our biggest polluters its never going to get through the Senate.

Labor will keep the Carbon Tax/ETS as their policy and it will destroy them this term and give the 2016 election to Abbott already.
