The Federal Government's independent climate policy adviser has declared Australia's emissions reduction target inadequate and not credible.

In a draft report on emissions reduction targets, the Climate Change Authority says Australia's commitment to cutting emissions by 5 per cent from 2000 levels by 2020 would leave Australia lagging behind other comparable countries like the United States.

So 5% is inadequate??

Some people have short memories, I still remember some old bloke who was punched in the face and died because he was using a hose, but as it turned out he was using his hose on a day he was allowed too.

we had to use a bucket during restrictions.  it used more water than a hose and so most people still used a hose... on the lawn.

during the worst of the drought Mildura had green parks and green verges and green lawns because everyone used murray water in blatant violation of the restrictions - including the council.

I washed my car with a hose.  no regrets.  I especially washed my car with a hose when the drought was over, the reervoirs were full and literally overflowing but the BoM declared we were still in a drought.  maybe they should have looked out the window.

I remember the absolute farce of BoM declaring that SA was still in a drought after the wettest winter in decades and with spectacular timing made this pronouncement during 48 hours of continual very heavy rain in Adelaide.

It made them look very silly.

obviously not in the town itself.  it was a running joke around a lot of SA and vic how you drove in to see the stage 3 restrictions signs while the council was watering the median strips during the middle of a summer day.

and I do not take someone elses word that they are doing so..

Adelaide dams are at full capacity. Farmers dams on the fleurieu peninsula are all full. Flinders Ranges have had good rain a few times during spring which has been unheard of for the last 10 years. 2 weeks ago the gates have been opened up stream of the Murray, the mouth now has a higher concentration of fresh water.

I'd say SA is looking great! The climate has changed once again  ;D

Medindie lakes suffers from massive evaporation.  Howard signed contracts for $400M for earthworks to reduce this evaporation by 80%.  Rudd cancelled them and subsequently did nothing about it.  So the water continues to evaporate when it could be going down the murray.

Just like Labor did in Sydney - costs a small fortune now for Sydney residents to turn on their taps.

Labor in Victoria blew hundreds of millions on a pipe line that just collects dust and also 25 Billion + on a desal plant we don't need..

mind you...

they refused to build a cheap dam down in gipsland in an area where it's been prone to flooding...

the Global scare mongers convinced Labor that it would never rain again and that a dam would be a waste of money..

since them the township has flooded twice and the river flows as good as its always done...

the dam could have saved millions in flood repairs and given us billions of litres of fresh water to use...

but instead.. Labor/Greens would rather we drink our own sewerage..  :-/
