Title: Progressivism ~ Alive & Kicking
Post by Greens_Win on Nov 25th, 2013 at 4:56pm
Congrats Greens on their massive increase in todays polling.

Poor old conservatives wanting Greens to die must be so depressed.

Greens are in a great position since all these voters who have dabbled with conservatism realise their folly and will now come back home to Progressivism.

Come home to the Greens

OMG! you wait until Misty sees this.

She will be livid....progressive indeed!

I saw in the Nielson poll that 78% of people don't think the coalition are doing enough for climate change.

Go the Greens!

Things that are not conservative are not all communistic. And communistic is not a bad thing in itself.

Progressivism is a general political philosophy based on the Idea of Progress that asserts that advances in science, technology, economic development, and social organization, can improve the human condition

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressivism

Progressivism is everything that conservatism is not.

Communism is state controlled. i.e  Liberal's Direct Action Policy.

Direct Action is not progressive, it is conservative communism.

I used this so to help you understand the difference between Progressive verses Communism, and it's close relation, Abbott's Conservatism.

Progressivism isn't one side of politics, it exists on both sides of the broad left/right divide, just as Conservatism does.
Change for it's own sake which many progressives tend to embrace these days is in my opinion stupid.

Australia[edit]

In the past few years, the term "progressive" has been used in Australia to refer to what used to be called "The Third Way."[citation needed] The term is popular in Australia, and it is often used in place of "social liberal." The term "liberalism" has become associated with free markets and small government; in other words "classical liberalism." Progressivism is used to differentiate between the two-party political system of the classical-economic liberal Liberal Party[citation needed] and the protectionist-working class Labor Party.[citation needed]

The Australian Greens represent the third largest political party in the country, polling around 12%[13][14] with 9 senators and one newly elected member of the Australian House of Representatives (elected in the 2010 Australian federal election). The party espouses progressive ideologies, together with grassroots democracy and participatory democracy.[citation needed]

Calling oneself progressive while pushing policies that are conservative sends a mixed message.

Trickery is a tool one uses to try and fool the voters. Does the means justify the ends, no in the longterm. This is why the Greens annoy the old parties. The Greens don't use trickery.
