Title: Quentin Bryce does it again
Post by Cliff48 on Dec 6th, 2013 at 6:11pm
After making comment about Australia becoming a republic and speaking up for same sex marriage, she is now interfering in world politics by commenting on Mandela's passing.

I truly hope she had her words vetted by Abbott or the liebrals will be complaining again.

How did Abbotts Goons allow such a statement to make it through their web of secrecy?
If shes not careful the Australian will have her linked to a pedophile ring or some union scandal  :D

the Queen whom she represent will I am sure mention Mandelas passing.

she always makes a speech when a leading dignitary dies.. that has not a thing to do with world politics.

we will never know the Queens thoughts on gay marriage or world politics.. she is too dignified

Please tell me the Coalition are not going to send the fugly, childless, barren, pants wearing "Lady" Foreign Minister to Mandella's Funeral.  Every country her and Abbott have gone to, we have offended in one way or another.   For this high profile event, that world leaders will be attending, please lock Julie Bishop in the cellar at Parliament House and send Tony - along with a speech therapist

You are out of touch Cods,  the GG speaks on advice from the PM.  I doubt the queen knows a fraction of what she says.

I just wanted to make a point about the GG speaking up with her opinion.  It seems with cods (at least) she can speak up providing cods  agrees with what she says.

Kevin Rudd should be sent or even Julia Gillard.  That would send a positive message.

no its you thats out of touch...protocol its called...

the PM speaks for himself.

TONY Abbott has defended the right of Quentin Bryce to declare her support for a republic amid monarchists' calls for her to step down before her term as Governor-General ends next year.

The Prime Minister, who was director of Australians for Constitutional Monarchy before entering parliament, said yesterday it was "more than appropriate" for Ms Bryce to share her personal views.

"She did it with grace and style," Mr Abbott said in Sydney.

"Obviously different people have different views on these subjects."

Ms Bryce, whose term expires in March, became the first serving governor-general to publicly back Australia becoming a republic while delivering the final ABC Boyer Lecture of the year in Sydney on Friday.

she wasnt speaking for the PM or the country she was speaking for herself.. which is her right.

I agree. I watched him in an interview the other night were he compared his 4 years as Opposition Leader in Australia to the mere trauma suffered by some chink sheila from somewhere else.  I felt so sorry for him and his loss.  He should go

Yez.. Mizz Gullard would mek a greed embassedoh do de Rrepublic.... 'er red leanings wold vit with der leanings of dose keffirs off der Rred bersuasion..... on der zame pege, zo do spik!

"You know"... *drags up a stump beside the fire, cup of coffee laced with Irish whiskey in hand...*

"I personally feel there's a hell of a lot we could learn from Nelson Mandela the man.. his tolerance.. his clear statement that it was time for no man(or woman) to be oppressed by another...his almost saintly return from the near-grave in prison for all those years.... and above all his intent to seek a better nation for all people in it.

Now.. that's not to say there weren't and aren't problems... what I'm saying is that, despite those problems... and I most emphatically do not expect them to just vanish in a puff of smoke, in fact I foresee them becoming worse with Nelson gone... his philosophy was one of peace and harmont and at least some attempt at fair and equitable tretment for all.

I sincerely feel that Western governments worldwide, in their current mad rush to self-destruction with government running around like headless chooks trying to find some way out of the corner into which they have painted themselves with half-thought out and often unthought policy ideas - most of which have succeeded only in alienating the very people the same governments rely on.. well... let's just say they could take a few leaves out of his book....

G'night.. medication time and turning in along the road to Canberra.. sounds like a Bing Hope Bob Crosby movie, eh?

The Liberals should send nobody.

Considering that they stand for all the things that Mandella spent his life fighting against it would by hypocrisy and insulting for them to attend.
