It was the two conservative parties, the Libs and Greens, wanted BOATS! to keep coming, great election issue for both. We could long ago have stopped the boats with the Malaysian Processing Centre. Damn both Libs and Greens to hell!

Aust is just protecting it's borders and maintaining its own sovereignty.

We should just opt out of the obsolete reffo convention.

Anyway the UN would have to get a UNSC Resolution to put sanctions on us and it has Buckley's.

I think the UN conv.. goes back to 1952.. it old old old was meant for different time...in those days most were genuine REFUGEES... they were not called asylum seekers..they were genuinely in fear of their lives.. 

now they have stolen the real meaning of refugee.. its gone its history....[ almost] now its hard to tell whos real and whos not real.. we are not game to point the finger we risk getting accused of all sorts of nasty thing...

Well, I fail to see how unlawful intrusions into INDOENSIA'S waters by the Australian Navy is protecting our borders.  It's clearly a breach of international maritime law.
