Title: Abbott on the nose in Griffiths
Post by Aussie on Jan 22nd, 2014 at 11:45am

Quote:
THE LNP has wiped Tony Abbott from Bill Glasson's how-to-vote cards in a sign the party is attempting to distance the Griffith candidate from the Prime Minister's recent troubles.

While Mr Abbott featured prominently on Dr Glasson's 2013 cards he is conspicuously absent from the latest batch.

Labor has attributed the decision to local anger over education backflips, foreign affairs woes, asylum seeker operational stumbles and Newman Government cuts.

Abbott isn't running in that seat. He is already PM. Big deal.

We are talking about the LNP candidate seeking to distance himself from the Lib Leader. Always a bad sign that.

Progreesives are not the only ones to relise Abbott is a liability … conservatives are finally waking up to their biggest mistake

If Abbott was not a liability there would be no issues with the local candidate rolling him out.

As it is, he has not and will not appear when campaigning.

For toeing the party line - yes. Personally - probably not. As the former leader of the most powerful union in the country he would want to keep all his members' snouts in the trough.

Abbott needs to get a different photo taken...that one makes him look like an angry little small minded man  :D

Oh, I see.  But, in conjunction with a story about Abbott being excluded, it's hard to see anything positive for Glasson, and especially Abbott.

It's not positive but as Anthony Green says......

Quote:
It should be pointed out that only once has a federal government gained a seat from an opposition at a by-election and that was the Kalgoorlie by-election in 1920. Labor may have lost Kevin Rudd's personal vote, and most new government's tend to have a honeymoon in their early months, but history says that government's don't normally gain seats from an oppositions.

Labor held the seat even when the electorate was giving them a boot up the kyber pass so Glasson has "Buckley's"

It's a perennial bastion of 'Truebelieveritus'  :D

I would not write Glasson off.  He clearly had solid local support in 2013 when he publicly had Abbott/LNP on his material........but it is obvious now there is a confidence issue within the Griffith LNP about their man being seen as an Abbott/LNP man.

Says a great deal, wot?

If Abbott was considered an asset his face would be everywhere.

Clearly he is now regarded as a liability. How quickly things change.
