Labor had six years, did SFA for jobs. They should now get out of the way and give the new government a fair go.

Hopefully Tony doesn't get rid of everyone that was on labors global warming gravy train, the gravy train labor borrowed heavily from China to fund, poo unemployment would go up another percent and we'd never hear the end of it  :o

The Coalition are governing, or at least doing a lame impression of it. It's not the ALP or Greens' fault that the Coalition are a bunch of incompetent liars.

Why are you parroting this myth?

If you're going by the primary vote numbers, it's also the Liberals' second-worst defeat ever, behind only 2010.

No, "we" didn't. At the last election we voted in 190 politicians from a range of parties.

Gang-green just need to get out of the way and allow liberals to govern the way the people overwhelmingly voted them to do. By the above

SFA for jobs? You blind and deaf? Have a look at our unemployment rate and compare that to other advanced economies post GFC. That was a totally stupid statement, Armpit!

As school leavers hit the jobs market each year they were absorbed and found work.

I suggest a look at ABS figures!

Media Release 16/1/14

Australia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage points but the rounded estimate remained at 5.8 per cent in December, as announced by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today.

The ABS reported the number of people employed decreased by 22,600 to 11,629,500 in December. The decrease in employment was due to decreased full-time employment, down 31,600 people to 8,067,700, offset by increased part-time employment, up 9,000 to 3,561,800. The decrease in total employment was driven by decreases in male and female full-time employment and male part-time employment.

The number of people unemployed increased by 8,000 people to 722,000 in December, the ABS reported.

The ABS monthly seasonally adjusted aggregate hours worked series increased in December, up 0.6 million hours to 1,634.0 million hours.

The ABS reported a seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate decrease of 0.2 percentage points to 64.6 per cent in December.

More details are in the December 2013 issue of Labour Force, Australia (cat. no. 6202.0), as well as the upcoming December 2013 issue of Labour Force, Australia, Detailed (cat. no. 6291.0.55.001) due for release next week on January 23. These publications are available for free download (after release) from the ABS website - www.abs.gov.au.

Over for years? You reckon?

The Abbott recession is just one phase of it. Not over by a long shot.

You voted no to the carbon tax?  Odd, the libs could have gotten rid of it, but decided not to.

Had your head in the sand when the Coalition introduced legislation to repeal the carbon tax and Labor and the Greens blocked it in the Senate, huh?

And Labor offered to remove it and replace it with an ETS and the Coalition decided to not do a deal despite the fact they knew they would not pass the bill otherwise.

Still having a carbon tax is only the fault of the Liberals now.

U cant ask the people to replace an unwanted tax with another tax they didnt ote for. The election was clear. Liberals no carbon tax and no ets thereafter.

Labor were any tax we can make up we will, and still trying

Abbott won an overwhelming mandate to dismantle the carbon tax. End of story. Labor lost the election and suffered their biggest ever defeat in the process. They need to realise they're no longer running the country (into the ground) and don't get to dictate terms to Abbott.
