Title: The practice of Islam also has its beauty Post by Herbert on Jan 26th, 2014 at 6:58am
The artwork and architecture found in the Islamic Middle East are as beautiful as anything that can be found in the West.
I've always found the call to prayer to be hauntingly beautiful as nothing we have in the Christian world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AX3U-BGDedc |

While not strictly Islamic practice, I've always loved the extremely intricate architecture seen in the doors in Morocco. |

"The practice of Islam also has its beauty"
I do not like ISLAM. I do not like moslems. 1/ ISLAM is a vicious, and deceitful, death cult; "...the Prophet said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him." hadithsunnah/bukhari/ #004.052.260 2/ Moslems, are moslems; Dictionary; Muslim = = a follower of Islam. ISLAM should be proscribed by law, in Australia, imo! Then maybe many moslems, would leave Australia. I'm just dreaming............. |

Yadda, this is objective. Enjoying a piece of art should really not be contingent of where it comes from.
The same reason people all over the world enjoy religious art and architecture, it doesn't mean you have to be a part of it to enjoy or appreciate it. |

I like the call to prayer thing also. I think this is one of the first aspects of Islam I discussed on here, and may have been a catalyst to the establishment of the Islam board, as I was sympathetic at the time (it kind of went downhill from there).
I do feel sorry for those who get it blasted into their house at sparrowfart every day. I think there are a few good techno/duff duff songs that use this style, if not the actual lyrics. |
Title: Re: The practice of Islam also has its beauty Post by Pete Waldo on Jan 27th, 2014 at 3:39am How about we toss in some art? Above is an artists concept of Muhammad literally riding, on Islam's very literal, flying donkey-mule. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buraq#The_journey_to_the_Seventh_Heaven From what is considered to be islam's most divinely inspired hadith collection: Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 5, B58, #228: Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The sights which Allah's Apostle was shown on the Night Journey when he was taken to Bait-ul-Maqdis (i.e. Jerusalem) were actual sights, (not dreams). And the Cursed Tree (mentioned) in the Quran is the tree of Zaqqum (itself). http://www.brotherpete.com/mohammeds_night_journey.htm Needless to say, as in the case of his alter-ego "Allah" or angel Gabriel and all things Muhammad pretended to have received directly from his deity, there were no witnesses to his flying steed either. What was witnessed when Muhammad received some of his "revelations", was Muhammad sweating from his brow in cold weather and such, which far from suggesting a manifestation of the divine, are not unusual in those who suffer under the influence of unclean spirits and demons. http://www.answering-islam.org/Authors/Wood/bewitched_prophet.htm |

That must be from the golden age. They aren't dressed in rags.

Umm i think you might more correctly title your thread as 'arabic or persian' architecture can be beautiful.
Islam has nothing to do with a particular architectural style, even the crescent moon of the mosques actually comes from old pagan religions. |
